[identity profile] lyonessheart.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] hd_writers
A while ago [livejournal.com profile] darkravenwrote posted the question if you would be interested in a community that archived old prompts from fests and will give folks the opportunity to drop prompts for claiming. The tenor was that this was a good idea - so here is the next step, and since she is already busy coming up with lists and spreadsheets, I am trying to do a tiny part as well and find a name for this baby :)

Since HP_adoptaprompt already exists, we decided to start fresh and have the following question for you:

[Poll #1979096]

Please give us a minute and participate :)

I really like this idea

I think 'promptarchive' is the simplest and most obvious for what it's about. It does the job cleanly, without cutesy meaningless names that would only baffle me, tbh.

I agree! It is clear and concise and leaves no doubt about what the comm is about.

So, this is an HP thing, not an H/D thing? Because I own hdpromptarchive.

The idea I had for hdpromptarchive was actually a little different. Not recycling from fests, but having a place where people can drop prompts they love, but don't feel they could write for themselves, (for whatever reason) and prompts they felt happy to part with. Prompts could be submitted at anytime. Those prompts will simply be there on the archive, and any interested persons can claim them at any time. For a fest or whatever they want to use it for. So, your com won't interfere, I don't think. :)
But, I feel like the idea of recycling old prompts already has a community, (hpadoptaprompt), so I'm a little confused, to be honest. What will be the difference between this com and hpadoptaprompt?

I think the hpadoptaprompt was for a fest, while this isn't strictly for a fest (like signing up and submitting stories or artwork).

Well, if you find any and all my unclaimed prompts on the various fests, you're free to include them. I don't think any of my 2014 horrorfest prompts were claimed and a couple of this year's Samhain Smut prompts were claimed. Although, most of my Hermione Smut (or at least a good number) prompts have been claimed.

As I said, feel free to include any of my unclaimed prompts.

[livejournal.com profile] hp_adoptaprompt was started out as fest for giving life to your lost prompts but your idea is different - and very cool.

Of course you guys are more than welcome (to whatever the F you want... haha) but if you wanted to take over that community and shape it into what you desire, you're more than welcome to take over adoptaprompt but you're looking for more...what? recycle your prompts?

Who would put in these prompts? The same person who prompted them in the first place?

I would love to see adoptaprompt go again. Don't we all wish we had more time to do these things

It would be a good idea to spread this poll to some HP comms, too. I've only seen it in the H/D circles.

I am so torn between hp_promptarchive and hp_bunnyfarm. :) While the first is clear and to the point, the latter is more fannish and more fun. :)

I have a question. ^^

Are you planning to archive all the prompts of an X fest or the original prompter would have to re-prompt them?

Because maybe a prompter wants to "save" a prompt for another fest that might also fit, you know?

I guess I'm wondering if your idea is something like, "Here are the prompts from X, Y, Z fests, help yourself," or rather, "Prompters, please re prompt your prompts from X, Y, Z fests."

Sorry. I don't even know if I'm being clear. I hope so! :D And sorry if this was answered already. I don't always hang out here, and clearly, I should. Lol

*nods* I get it. :)

It sounds like a cool idea to help writers who are having a block.

Maybe it would be a good idea to leave original prompts, too though. I mean, sometimes when a writer is having a writers block, they aren't always looking for to start a whole new fic, but maybe a prompt that suggests a scene or a moment would be helpful too. :D

It's a great idea though. Thank you for explaining to me. <3

I'd often thought of doing this for fests when there were just so, so many lovely-yet-unclaimed prompts, but never actually had the time or initiative to plan it out by myself. Yay for you guys! This is going to be awesome. :D If you do need any help with the organizing, let me know (though [livejournal.com profile] darkravenwrote sounds like someone after my own heart with the lists and the spreadsheets, haha X3).

Yay! This will be wonderful, I'm sure of it. :3

Predominantly H/D, but I poke into a few other comms as well that are multi-pairing or for some other specific pairings. I'll drop a line to those mods to see if I can spread the word. :)

WAIT NO I DID IT WRONG. (If it shows you who votes for what, can you just pretend that I put my vote in the "ones I really like" category, omg. ;_; )

I'm a bit dissapointed when I see that hp_promptarchive is winning T_T I know that it's clean and concise but I like wishing well better coz, yeah well, people dream... Am I making sense here? But whatever it is the name will be, I think the idea is great ^^

Has there been any updates to the prompt archive?
