Just a note to let everyone know the wrap-up for Drabble Day won't be happening until tomorrow due to reasons. Mainly because I got stuck at work waiting for a plumber of all things. How is that my responsibility?

Anyway...

That gives everyone an extra twenty-four hours to whip up a quick drabble!

Welcome to Drabble Day, the Calvinball of Olympic Competition. It's both 24-hr marathon and short-writing sprint. It's classic 100m freestyle with your favourite pairing and new-fangled triathaloning with three crossovers, two pairings and a kink. It's clean and efficient tumbling pass writing and the purple prose of synchronised swimming. It's also armchair Olympics at its best. Feeling out of shape? Been on twitter too much? Not in the right headspace for a competitive event? Drabble Day welcomes you. Hell, we'll even take you if you've been taking performance-enhancing drugs (aka caffeine and alcohol). There's half hour to go, so hopefully you're limbering up.

If it's your first time, prompts will be posted every hour for the next twenty-four hours. If you're inspired, write something for it. Post it as a comment to the prompt post, or link to it in a comment to the prompt post. That is all.

If you don't know the rules, they're detailed here but come down to two things:

Rule no. 1 - there are no rules on drabble day. Any length, any pairing, any fandom, any rating. We love it all. We've had orig!fic, we've had haiku. We are about a day of no limits and no constraints to get your creative juices flowing - especially if you've been working too hard at something recently, take a day to let loose and limber up, ready for another week of competition.

Rule no. 2 - okay, there is a rule. Please post NC-17 fics on personal journals so that we can keep this event all ages. Post a link to your fic in the comments to prompt post, and detail any warnings in the comment. We're worried specifically about chan, as there are legal issues in some countries.

So what can you expect in the next 24 hours? A plethora of Olympic-themed prompts. Don't feel compelled to write Olympic-themed drabbles, though. We're only here to spark your imagination. Twenty-six Olympic sports, 24 hours..? Doesn't quite work, but we'll figure something out.

There'll be people in chatzy who are, you know, chatting. Prizes for most prompts filled, longest drabble, anything else we feel like. It's Drabble Day, just go with it.

Sorry that this is a little later than promised. Last night my screen just stopped working - no idea why! And the internet wasn't working this morning :/ I'm wishing that there had been a new computer under the birthday tree now, but I guess I'll just need to start saving my pennies.

Once again, thank you to everyone who played at Drabble Day, whether with one drabble or 24, one word or 21k (eyes curiouslyfic). I had a wonderful time, and I hope everyone else did as well.

For those who are statistically-minded, we had 110 fill-prompts, though somewhat fewer actual drabbles as a number of clever people did one drabble with multiple prompts :D The most popular prompt was #1- Billywig, perhaps unsurprisingly as it was first up and came with BOB bonus points. The most popular pairing was once again Harry/Draco, with 39 prompt fills, though only 20 stories, as many of those were combined. Honourable mention pairings go to Ron/Hermione, with 8 stories, and George/Pansy - also 8 stories, and all through the efforts of curiouslyfic.

vanessawolfie had a challenger this time around - kitty_fic also filled every prompt! Congratulations to both of you - an amazing effort! The longest drabble award has to go to curiouslyfic who wrote 8 drabbles, all from the same universe, and which she confided to me equalled over 20,000 words over Saturday. An amazing job. Look to your inbox for a special offer!
