hello my fellow writers,
to another dose of writing info you might not need, desperately want, or never even expected to be there!

• 10 writing truths is exactly what it is said to be, but i find sometimes it just helps to be reminded of those!
  



• how to write a heart stopping kissing scene is a short read that gives you a few hints on how to make your kissing scene better. it does not provide you with vocabulary but instead with things to consider when writing a kissing scene.
  



• how (and when) to use semicolons is a nice short read about one punctuation mark. it gives some helpful examples and explains the usefulness of the semicolon. for many of you it might actually be old information, but for me it was rather interesting.

Get your pencils ready, find your favorite notebooks and pens, and wiggle those typing fingers to get them limbered up. The war is upon us!

1 ! The war begins as of Midnight, the START of Friaday 30th according to your local time. If I've calculated correctly, this post should be up in plenty of time that even the time travelers on the other side of the world will be able to start at the beginning of their own day!

2 ! The war ends as of Midnight, the END of Monday 2nd according to your local time. You will have FOUR AWESOME DAYS of writing.

3 ! To participate, please check-in with a comment below. You may also post your beginning word counts in order to help you keep track of your progress. All members of hd_writers are welcome to participate! Invite your friends to join in!

4 ! Use this time to work on your writing - any project, any pairing, any fandom! You do not have to be writing Harry/Draco fic in order to participate. Any and all creative writing counts!

5 ! The hd_writers chatroom is there as always to serve as inspiration and encouragement, as well as the SrsBzns chatroom. Please try to stay on the topic of writing as much as possible during the word war! The SrsBzns room should be focused strictly on timed word wars without the additional chat. For inspiration, writing talk, encouragement, etc. please visit the main room.

6 ! You don't have to participate during the entire wordwar, just jump in whenever you can and do any amount of writing in order to qualify.

7 ! Remember to check back in with your final, ending word count within approximately 24 hours after the war ends! (We would appreciate if you could check back in with your final word count by the end of your day on Tuesday, July 26th).

• Common writing mistakes is a very easy and quick read, but i agree with the author very strongly and i think most of you doing the beta-work will do too. so may this info spread and improve us writers!
  



• Plot Structure in Romance Novels is a short overview that breaks down the classical structure for a plot romance novel readers are expecting. it can also help if you are planing your romance novel with the plotting!
  



• Naming Characters is also a quick read- see how i am saving you time this post? - about names and things you can/could consider.

hello my fellow writers,

• today i have something unsual for you, but it is so worth knowing this:
  on youtube there is a channel called Artifexian and just as a disclaimer: no i did not watch all his vis, but if you are into worldbuilding as a writer he has an intersting playlist for you, he also has one for how to create a language and how to build a calendar. so far i do not think that he did this all with writers in mind, but i got very inspired by him. so go and check out his playlists maybe something is in there for you.
  



• here you actually have very little reading to do, takes less then 4 min for me, so you will be much faster. but what you find here are 600 writing prompts, which may inspire you or trigger something in you to get you out of a slump or away from that writers block you think you have hit.
  



• 12 types of opening sentences is a quick read of 12 different ways to open your story/chapter/book. it's just an image and you won't regret giving it a look
  

on unrelated news, i would say that there will be a word war this friday 23th - 26th that gives you 4 days of writing! official announcement is to come - life is just really hectic now sorry.
