After reading and writing slash for little over two years now (yes, I guess I'm still a little of a n00b) there are two things that has caught my curiosity. I don't  know if it concerns H/D writing directly, but it I think it would really help me to understand the theme a little more.

One: Do you think there are more bisexual men who are 'tops" than 'bottoms'?
- I think that there are more tops because there is less threat to 'their manhood' (Y/N)
(I have a bunny about of exploring this question in a fic, so any help would be nice.)

Two: Why are there so many lesbian slash (man on man) writers?
- I am more attracted by men than by women (about 80/20) so I can't really relate. I have asked lesbian writers this question before and they told me that 'it's just hot'. Maybe I'm just a little ignorant but why does women who don't find men desirable as sex partners write so darn good slash?

Or is it just because it is H/D and that it is meant to be<3?

I was prompted by kitty to host my game here: I have 5 people interested in writing at this point, anyone else want to join in the games?  This will likely result in a cracky, disjointed fic, but it it more for fun than anything else....

Remember those stories we wrote in elementary school? You would write a paragraph, fold the paper down to hide all but the last line, and then pass it to the person next to you?

Anyone interested in doing this for a H/D fic?

The rules are as follows: You have 1 week to sign up. If I can get 5 or more people willing to do this, I will write the first paragraph (6-12 sentences) and set the general theme (comment with your ideas for theme as well). I will forward the last two sentences to the first person to sign up. They will write 6-12 sentences in sequence, and message it back to me. I will then send THEIR last two sentences to the next person on the list, and so on, until we have a long enough fic. If less than 10 people sign up, I will go through the list of people twice.

Please let me know if you are interested in writing the ending and I will let you know that it is time for the end to come.

I got this awesome link from [livejournal.com profile] winnett! And I've spent so much time playing with it this morning!

Hi! I have a question about how MAGIC works in Harry Potter's our world.

Specifically, do you need a wand for Occlumency? I know this sort of thing has probably been discussed a lot, but I haven't seen this specific case mentioned before.

The whole idea of wandless magic suggests a wand isn't always necessary for talented witches or wizards (or goblins, house elves etc..), but it also suggests that this is very rare and hard to do. I'm discounting accidental under-age magic, like when Harry blew up Marge.

I can't remember whether Harry uses a wand in his lessons with Snape and I don't have the books to hand to check. I've made a quick poll below; please vote if you are so inclined so we can see if there is a majority one way or the other.

Thanks for reading. Any comments, opinions and votes would be great! ♥

I'm currently writing a HxD Pre-slash 8th-year fic and I'm kinda stuck. Can someone help me?

Here's the background:

Harry finds himself watching Malfoy, and he decides that all the "Enemies" stuff of the past was all his fault (because he wouldn't be Draco's friend) and a denial of attraction. In the process of watching Draco, he falls in love with him. He talks to Draco about a truce, and Draco doesn't accept Harry's friendship. He *could* like Harry, but he can't get over the original rejection and the animosity that built up.

Now the situation:

At this point in the story Draco guesses that Harry has a crush on him (not just wanting friendship) and, being a prat, basically flirts with Harry for a week to build up Harry's hope before sending Harry a note that basically says "Just for the record, I was just playing with your heart and still hate you".

Now how would I phrase that note in Draco-Prat-Sarcastic-Speak?

I usually post these in my own journal, but I figured HEY, WE HAVE A COMM FOR THAT, so I'm asking here, instead.  I recently had an interesting discussion about GHOSTS (do they show up on the Marauder's Map - answer was YES) and obviously I am writing something set at Hogwarts, which brings me to my next question or request for discussion.

LONG BLATHER IS LONG )

There have already been hundreds of spells created by fic writers.  I see no reason why we shouldn't create non-canon school programs.  HELP ME, F-LIST!  YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE!  (Mods, if this sort of thing is disallowed, let me know and I will move it back to my journal.  THANKY!)
