It's Curi and Kneazley with an update on your BOB results!

It's about time! Well, to be quite honest, it's not time just yet. This is just a little note to let you know we haven't forgotten you.

But you know it's really late, don't you? Yeah, we do. Tragically late. Tragicomically late even. Possibly at the point where people don't even care anymore.

I care! You rock!

Well, you suck! Yes, it's possible that we do. Unfortunately, circumstances have conspired against us and it just hasn't been done. The project I'm working on goes live this weekend and Curi is back at school and that spreadsheet really is evil. Also, do you know how hard it is to get motivated when there are no points up for grabs?

But how do I know how I did? The spreadsheet has actually been updated for Week 4. You can see how you went that week here. The averages and overall result for BOB month will be along shortly. Possibly before the end of the month either. Because, trust me, we'd like to see it posted as well.

Monday, April 30 is also FINISHING BONUS DAY!!!!

Aren't we already getting double points for finishing? You would be, but we're giving you TRIPLE POINTS FOR FINISHING anything on Monday! I'm really wishing I'd taken the day off now. That's any fic, art or podfic finished on Monday, will get triple-points for the finishing bonus!

How do I claim? Comment here before the end of Tuesday, May 1st, with everything you did today, and we'll do the rest!

Old things day? You don't need to sound so much like Snape when you say that. Yes, it's old things day, otherwise known as REVISION DAY! For all revision activities, you will get DOUBLE POINTS!!!

What counts? Beta-ing, revising your own or others work, editing of podfic or fic, and colouring of art.

What doesn't count? New things of any sort will only garner regular BOB points, except for...

Yes? Except for? Don't leave us waiting! Except for this!

Sunday, April 29 is also FINISHING BONUS DAY!!!!

Another Finishing Bonus? Yup! We'll double all finishing bonuses on Sunday. Want to know why? Because we CAN!!! Personally, I have two things to finish on Sunday, so wish me luck!!!

How do I claim? Comment here before the end of Monday, April 30th, with your revised things count and your things finished today record and we'll do the rest!

That's right writers and artists (and podficcers and betas and people who are daydreaming and calling it brainstorming like me), we promised you plenty of bonuses this week, and here's the next one!

Friday, April 27 is NEW THINGS DAY!!!

For new things - word, art, podfic - you get double points!

Haven't you done this before? YES!!! It was awesome the first time and will be equally awesome this time.

So what do we need to do? Create! New words, time spent on new art and time spent on new podfic will earn double points!

What doesn't count? Time spent daydreaming (alas) and time spent revising, editing and the like. There will be a bonus day for revising and editing over the weekend, but I thought a 'daydreaming bonus day' would just encourage my procrastination, so it's unlikely to happen. There will be another 'bonus for everything' day, though!

Anything else I need to know? YES!!!

Friday, April 27 is also FINISHING BONUS DAY!!!!

That's right! We're coming to the end of the Month of Epic Productivity (aka BOB), so it's time for that extra push to get your art, podfic or fic finished. And if you do, we'll double your finishing bonus! Coz Captain Picard is awesome like that :D

I swear, every week you folks get more outstanding.

Week Three saw 5,320 points overall spread across 38 active marathoners, for an average of 140 points.

We wrote 256,250 words, betaed 119,500, spent 21 hours on art and 27 hours on podfic, 163 hours brainstorming and plotting and researching, and 114 hours revising. We spent 245 hours doing other things to achieve our goals and 28 hours cheering on other people to help them achieve theirs.

All told, pretty fabulous.

And we earned 217 finishing points last week. That’s not with the finishing multiplier, that’s just shit we got done.

Phenomenal. Seriously.

But enough marathon moto, let’s see how our teams fared.

Team Hinkypunk split 1,455 points across 10 active members this week for an average of 146, high enough to claim top spot after two weeks in third. Hinkypunkers wrote 79,500 new words last week, earned 74 finishing points, and managed an astonishing 371 points on Bonus Saturday.

Well done, Kinkypunk! ♥

Next up is Team Snidget, which split 1,154 points across 8 members this week for an average of 144 points. Snidget betaed 56,750 words and had 57 hours of brainstorming, plotting, and researching.

Hot on their heels was Team Acromantula, who split 1,509 points across 11 members for an average of 137 points Week Three. Team Spider had 24.5 hours of podfic and 19.5 hours of art last week, and earned 53 finishing points.

Just 12 points off the lead is Team Billywig, who had 1,202 points overall and 9 active members, for an average of 134 points. Billywiggers wrote 70,250 words, spent 71 hours getting things off their lists, and earned 69 finishing points in Week Three.

My deepest apologies to all - my computer/internet issues completely wiped from my mind that I'd promised you all this day as a bonus day. And after I'd begged Captain Picard for it especially! (There's a fic in there somewhere).

Last week was a huge success, but now it's time for this week to be awesome. In an attempt to do that,

That's right, everything you do Wednesday is worth double points!

First off, an announcement. The intrepid

Saturday, April 21 is the Finishing Bonus!

Finishing? That's right! Need to get that last paragraph sorted out? Have an idea for a fic you could finish today if you got a move on? Anything you finish on Saturday will be worth 3 points per 1000 words.

I'm working on art and/or podfic! Any art or podfic finished on Saturday is worth 3 points per hour spent on the project.

But I'm on Team Spider and there's no way I'm getting through the last 15k of that Big Bang in one day! No fear, Saturday will also be

Double Bonus Day!!!

That's right! Everything else you do is worth double points.

That's a lot of points! WE KNOW!!! Isn't it AWESOME?!?!?!!!

What’s up with this Bonus? Nothing spectacular. Just double points again.

You know the drill by now, right? Report your totals for Thursday only in the comments of this post. Stats mod will be on the road Friday with dubious internet availability at noon EST, so the cut-off this time will be based on LJ’s timestamp. Your Bonus Thursday claim must be datestamped April 20 or earlier in order to be valid. Anything posted April 21 or later will be awarded regular BOB points without bonus, whether the mod cut-off comment's gone up or not.

How awesome was everyone in BOB’s Week Two? We had fewer people and still earned more points collectively! We betaed more words, though we didn’t write as many, and we spent way more time revising and brainstorming than we did last week. The big difference, though? We finished more things!

We had 5,325 points across 46 people, for an average of 116 points per person, up ten points on average from Week One. We wrote 299,000 words collectively, betaed 104,000, spent 19.5 hours on art and podfic, spent 220 hours plotting and researching, 174 hours on revisions, and 280 hours doing other things to meet our goals.

That’s pretty fucking awesome, yes?

So how did our teams do?

Congratulations, Acromantula!

Team Spider split 1,700 points across 11 active members for an average of 155 points this week, the highest of all the BOB teams this week. They wrote the most words — 101,500 new words in Week Two — and earned 259 additional points collectively on Bonus Sunday.

Next up is Team Snidget, our smallest team, who earned 1,083 points collectively between 8 people, for an average of 135 points per person in Week Two. Snidget earned 63 finishing points this week and proved spectacularly successful at this week’s bonuses.

Team Hinkypunk is moving up this week, with 1,350 points and 14 active members, for an average of 96 points per person Week Two. Hinkypunk spent 87 hours brainstorming, researching, and plotting this week, and spent 55.5 hours on revisions among them. They’re also up considerably from last week’s average of 66 points per active member.

Last but certainly not least — and not just because it’s my team (Up Billywig! *\o/*) — is Team Billywig, who split 1,192 points overall across 13 active members, for a Week Two average of 92 points, up from 89 last week. Billywig spent a phenomenal 130 hours getting things off their list and earned 40 finishing points for it. They also betaed 46,000 words in Week Two.

We closed out Week One of BOB with an astonishing 5,024 points earned in total across 49 active marathoners since April 1.

We’ve written 323,000 new words already this month, betaed 74,500 words for other people, spent 25 hours on art and another 12 hours on podfic. We’ve put in 165 hours on plotting, brainstorming, and research, and 100 hours revising, with another 176 hours doing other things that got stuff off our lists — most of which seemed to be modding. We’ve also finished 162,000 words of text.

Pretty awesome, huh?

Congratulations Team Acromantula!

Team Spider earned 1,521 points this week and all 10 of them checked in on time, which earned them their 2 point team bonus, giving them an average of 154 points for Week One.

Next up was Team Snidget, with 1,119 points over 8 members, who also all checked in on time, for an average of 142 points, including their 2 point team bonus.

Sixteen Team Billywig marathoners split 1,410 points overall, for an average of 89, including their 1 point team bonus.

Team Hinkypunk came out to a strong start and averaged 66 points per member this week, at 974 points and 15 members, plus their 1 point team check-in bonus.

Twenty marathoners topped 100 points this week, and six topped 200. The Week One overall points average was 104, well above the 20 point target set at the beginning of the week.

Tuesday, April 10 is Double Points Day

What does that mean? Points for everything you do Tuesday will be counted twice towards your weekly total: once when you check in to the comments of this post (before the mod cut-off comment goes up noon Wednesday EST) and again when you check in for the week on Sunday. Points not claimed on this post before the mod cut-off comment will be awarded once.

Wasn’t this supposed to be the New Things Bonus? Yes, but on account of the modfail, it’s double for everything. We’ll run the New Things Bonus next week.

Why was there modfail? Spreadsheet wrangling, check-in wrangling, and one break-up with associated drama. So sorry. Highly unlikely to happen again.

We’re done our first full week of BOB now and the weekly reports are coming in (and wow, were you productive!), so it’s time to announce this week’s Bonus schedule and the new weekly target. You have checked in for the week on your team's post, haven't you? Not yet? Go find the check-in thread in your team's Common Room post and claim your points. You have until Monday noon EST to be included in this week's stats and there's a 2 points per team bonus if your whole team does. Done checking in? Okay then. On to next week.

This week’s target will be…40 points!

Sound like a lot? We know you can do it. (And if that’s a bit on the high side for you, no worries. There’s still no penalty for not hitting it. Just keep making progress on your list and we’ll keep awarding points, we promise.)

To help you get there, we’ll be having two Bonus days. They are:

Tuesday, April 10 and Sunday, April 15

Tuesday’s Bonus will be double points for all new things: new words, new line art, new colouring, new podfic recording, and brainstorming/research. You’ll still get regular BOB points for anything else that you do that day, but we’re counting the new things twice. Because new things are lovely, aren’t they?

Sunday’s Bonus will be scaled like overtime pay: points-and-a-half for 8 points or lower, double points for 9 or above. Earning 8 regular BOB points Sunday will be worth 12, including your 4 Bonus points; earning 9 regular BOB points Sunday will be worth 18. Half-points will be rounded up to the nearest whole number. (We’ll post the scale for 1-8 on the Sunday Bonus post.)

We'll have the standings post for Week One up Tuesday with a link to the spreadsheet so you can see how you're doing.

A note about Bonus points: When we award Bonus points, we’re only really recording the additional points. To claim the whole lot without making stats mod do some browser tab hopping, please claim those points again in your total for the week. For last week’s 2x multiplier, everyone got awarded the regular BOB points total for their work Wednesday, then again at the same BOB points total for the same work on Sunday. We’re literally just counting it twice. Sorry for the confusion.

A note about beta points: Some of you have noticed that beta points are worth considerably more than expected. If you find the 1 point per 250 words calculation is excessive and not representative of the effort you feel you’ve put in, please feel free to adjust your numbers using either 1 point per hour spent or 1 point per 1k betaed.

2x multiplier for everything Saturday, April 7

Again? We did say two a week and after seeing how well everyone did on Wednesday, we’re looking forward to seeing Saturday’s progress.

How to claim your BOB Bonus points: Report your totals for Saturday only in the comments of this post. The mod cut-off comment will be up at noon EST Sunday and everything reported here after that will be counted by the regular BOB points scale. As always, BOB things run from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. in your time zone.

Do I count BOB Bonus things in my weekly check-in? Yes, please. Bonuses get awarded twice, once when you check-in on the Bonus post, then again when you check-in on Sunday. ‘Sup marathoners.

Hopefully you’ve all started tackling your to-do lists already (but if you haven’t, no worries, there’s still loads of time, you can totally do this thing) and I know a few of you have already smoked that weekly target, which is awesome.

As promised, though, it’s time for our first BOB Bonus.

2x points multiplier for Wednesday, April 4

What does that mean? Double points for everything/anything you do Wednesday. That’s it.

Really? Why? Because we can. No. To motivate you. (But seriously, because we can.)

How to claim your Bonus points: Report your totals for Wednesday only in the comments of this post. The mod cut-off will be going up at noon EST Thursday, so as long as you’re in by then, you’re good. Anything posted here after the mod cut-off comment will be awarded as regular points. As always, BOB things run from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the relevant date(s) in your time zone.

Stats mod would really appreciate it if you include your team’s name in your post so we can get your points awarded properly without some sort of terrible spreadsheet incident.

Here, have example of points reporting that won't make stats mod twitch:

30 minutes of revision
1 hour brainstorming

‘Sup BOBbers.

April is upon us. Are you ready? We’re betting yes, and we’re looking forward to seeing how you all do with our first weekly target. Which, for the record, is:

However you get them is up to you. You’ve all got the points chart in your team posts and you’ve got a week to get there. We have every faith you will. Please start counting points/tracking your progress as of 12:01 a.m. April 1 in your time zone, thanks. ♥

We’ll also be holding two Bonus days this week:

Wednesday, April 4 and Saturday, April 7

Can’t make those? No worries. There’s no penalty for missing these, and we’ll be running two each week throughout the month, so you’ll have plenty of other chances to make use of them.

There will also be a bonus for your team if everyone participating this week checks in by Monday, April 9, noon EST. Easiest way to avoid missing that deadline, based on previous experience? Check in with your total Sunday night before you go to bed. Not going to be around this weekend? Check in early or let someone on your team know you’ll be offline. For the sake of this bonus, anyone on hiatus will be excluded from the count.

If at least half your team checks in on time, your team will be awarded 1 point above your averaged total. If everyone on your team checks in on time, your team will earn a 2 point bonus.
