And we're off!
Mar. 31st, 2012 02:38 am‘Sup BOBbers.
April is upon us. Are you ready? We’re betting yes, and we’re looking forward to seeing how you all do with our first weekly target. Which, for the record, is:
20 points
However you get them is up to you. You’ve all got the points chart in your team posts and you’ve got a week to get there. We have every faith you will. Please start counting points/tracking your progress as of 12:01 a.m. April 1 in your time zone, thanks. ♥
We’ll also be holding two Bonus days this week:
Wednesday, April 4 and Saturday, April 7
Can’t make those? No worries. There’s no penalty for missing these, and we’ll be running two each week throughout the month, so you’ll have plenty of other chances to make use of them.
There will also be a bonus for your team if everyone participating this week checks in by Monday, April 9, noon EST. Easiest way to avoid missing that deadline, based on previous experience? Check in with your total Sunday night before you go to bed. Not going to be around this weekend? Check in early or let someone on your team know you’ll be offline. For the sake of this bonus, anyone on hiatus will be excluded from the count.
If at least half your team checks in on time, your team will be awarded 1 point above your averaged total. If everyone on your team checks in on time, your team will earn a 2 point bonus.
How to BOB
You do the thing(s) you need to do to get your April project(s) done. Write, edit, draw, colour, record, research, anything that moves you forward towards your goal. On Sunday, find your team’s check-in post and report your progress so we can flail encouragement and award you points.
Don’t have a team? Pick one and jump right in.
On Tuesdays, we’ll post points stats and team rankings, and issue new weekly targets, which are for motivation only and are completely optional, so no worries.
The details and the FAQs are here.
Should LJ fail: You can find mirror posts to report your check-ins on Dreamwidth here and InsaneJournal here.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns (or you want to report a hiatus in advance), let us know in comments.
Good luck, everyone!

Date: 2012-04-03 08:45 am (UTC)You know how much work you put in, you have a rough idea of what sort of incentive it takes to get you to do that thing, and you're in the best position to figure out what sort of points value it should have. Personally, assuming your crits are anything like mine, I'd be inclined to call it an hour of Other for every chapter I critted, with possible adjustments of +1 or so if it was a really thorough crit (i.e. extensive notes on every other page, unusually long or difficult chapter, etc).
Basically, we're trusting you to be fair in your reporting. If the points are coming up skewing high, adjusting them so they're reflective of time/effort/incentive required is cool.
Hope that helped.

Date: 2012-04-03 11:04 am (UTC)I think it's just gotten to the point where I've gotten used to spending only an hour or two on beta work for up to 15k because I do it so often. And I'm lucky enough to read very quickly.
