Date: 2012-03-09 09:54 pm (UTC)As for pictures. It usually works the other way around. I want to write something and then go in search of pictures that might fit the bill and get me in the mood. (you don't want to know how and why I totally triggered my own claustrophobia by looking at pictures of caves and cave divers, not on!)

I usually get inspired by melodies more than anything though.

Date: 2012-03-09 10:14 pm (UTC)I need music because hubby is usually playing video games in the room with me so I need something other than the sound of things exploding, but lyrics can be distracting. I found these very inspiring instrumental songs that really help the words flow! It's the kind of music that makes you feel like you can do anything!

Like when Dan Mangan sings "don't count the feathers, just count the wings" then I have to pause for a moment, but the melody is so lovely that it helps with the writing. I find Loreena McKennitt to be brilliant when you try to capture a certain mood or try to concentrate.
