I find the strangest things inspiring. It can be a song, a bike ride, anything really. Someone who always pushes my buttons is a band called "Breathe Owl Breathe", especially songs like "Dragon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=B_RFLoO0Q2E)" which is a song about a princess and a dragon being penpals and it kinda just wins at life. Or "The Last Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM89FxABXrA)", which is about a girl who likes to rollerskate while listening to books on tape. <3

As for pictures. It usually works the other way around. I want to write something and then go in search of pictures that might fit the bill and get me in the mood. (you don't want to know how and why I totally triggered my own claustrophobia by looking at pictures of caves and cave divers, not on!)

Images I in general find to be inspiring are these:

Image
Meeresmuschel by Britta Gotha

Image
View of a Harbour by Caspar David Friedrich

Image
Der Wandered über dem Nebelmeer by Caspar David Friedrich

I usually get inspired by melodies more than anything though.

This is a really great idea, I cannot wait to see what everyone else posts! :)

Mumford and Son's have to H/D shippers on the side.
I've never seen so many angsty lyrics that just fit so well on one album!

I love about it (it's a postcard I found in a shop and was all "GRABBY HANDS") that you can see the entire universe inside the shell. I love the sea around it, the small red house, the birds that fly up over it and the small person waving at the observer. I can look at it and lose myself in it.

My most recent inspiring pictures have all been travel or adventure related. Show me a compass and I'll have a geek-out or one of those maps of the world:

Always depends on the fic with me.

That sounds super wonderful!

I find some lyrics actually inspire me and others are distracting. Like when Dan Mangan sings "don't count the feathers, just count the wings" then I have to pause for a moment, but the melody is so lovely that it helps with the writing. I find Loreena McKennitt to be brilliant when you try to capture a certain mood or try to concentrate.

Cannot open your link, because the Gema is being an evil beast again! :(

I found it by accident! They wrote it for the "Wuthering Heights film" trailer with shorter studio version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30XKzxnTYK8).

Also totally behind, I only facebook stalk them! XD

I need to see that version of Wuthering Heights as it sort of came and went before I realised.
Also favourite book, well, that and Jane Eyre.

Is it available in iTunes..?

I honestly don't know. I missed that too, but it looks brilliant!

I loved Jane Eyre so much, how awesome are Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson? God, just talking about it makes me wat to rewatch/reread!

Yes, I believe that must be true! :D

Ahahaha, I actually did an entire presentation about the artist at school and fell in love with him there. Someone else I love for her style and all the stuff she put into her art is Artemisia Gentileschi.

Is it weird that I find YOU pretty inspiring too? Your fics haunt me for days in the best of ways. Still not over "Remember Remember"!

I have two quotes stuck to the side of my computer tower, right where I can see them all of the time.

Number One: "I can believe anything, provided it is incredible." Oscar Wilde

Number Two: "If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity even if I do not have it at the beginning." Mahatma Ghandi

Oh, and my li'l magnet, a gift from my daughter: Alcohol doesn't cause hangovers... waking up does."

It's more my state of mind... whether it can turn whatever I look at, no matter how boring / irrelevant it is, into an idea for a story. Whether my brain has extended my antenna or not.

Today was a good antenna day for me. I saw the new blond willow blend in Starbucks (beside the dark Komodo Dragon blend, no less!) and I have been entertaining myself all day with a H/D story!!! :)

What inspires me is pretty much anything. Music, quotes, movies, video games, and everything in between. I listen to a lot of OST too so there's inspriation in that as well. I get inspiration mostly from my friends and family. While I'm hanging out someone will say something like "I think whipped cream should be on the nipples and no where else" and then one of my friends will look to me and go "You. Write it. For it will be smutty and good." I normally can't pass up things like that XD

Here's a song I like listening to.

From one of my favorite animes Samurai Champloo.

Here's another one if I need to get in an angsty mood:

As for pics hmm this is pretty inspirational

I am inspired by beauty in many forms. The ocean is my biggest source of inspiration, but I'm also inspired by water in most any form, the moon, sunsets, flowers, animals in the wild, old churches, windows, and old stone structures like Pyramids, Easter Island, The Great Wall, Stonehenge and Manchu Pichu.
