That's this coming weekend! Yes, we're having another word war, and Word War II is for ALL writers. You do not have to be participating in NaNoWriMo in order to take part in any of our word wars during the month of November -- everyone is welcome. NaNo writers, writers working on original fiction (NaNo or non-NaNo), writers working on their unfinished fic WIPs, and fest writers are all encouraged to participate. THIS IS A 72 HOUR WAR !

PRIZES WILL INCLUDE:

- The overall winner will be featured as an AUTHOR INTERVIEW on hd_writers, just as dysonrules, lomonaaeren, and emmagrant01 have been featured! This is an opportunity for one of you to share your thoughts on Harry/Draco, writing, and fandom!

V-gifts for:

- Overall winner
- 10K+ words
- 8K+ words
- 5K+ words
- 2 random prizes for general participation

- LJ Tokens

- Naughty H/D limericks

- Possibly drabbles and ficlets

So the word war coming up is whether we're working on H/D or not? I ask because I'm aiming for overall wordcount in November and am spread across something like 6 or 7 projects at this point and while some are H/D fics, some are original and some are other fics...

Yep, you can work on whatever project you'd like, H/D or not. Original is fine. As is fan fic.

That was a joke. I really do brush my teeth. But I take my computer with me so I can continue writing while I do.

I'm participating in the emofest and they had a link for this site. After snooping around, trying to figure out exactly what's going on here I give up. Don't you have a post with information or something?? It looks so interesting but I want to know exactly what I'm signing up for in case I do join. And what on earth is this word war about? I wonder if I can join, not easy when I have a toddler running around the house all day, except for the few hours at night.

Sure, I'll try to explain. A word war is a contest to see who can write the most words during a set period of time. So, those who sign up for the word war tomorrow will be competing against each other (in a very friendly, supportive way) to see who can write the most words between 12 noon GMT Friday 11.11.11 and 12 noon GMT Monday 11.14.11.

We will post a sign-up post tomorrow at 12 noon GMT (which is 4 a.m. US Pacific, 5 a.m. US MST, 6 a.m. US CST, and 7 a.m. US EST) where you can leave a comment with a list of the fics you're working on and your beginning word count. For example:

Fic #1 (Title): 6500 words
Fic #2 (Title): 0 words
Fic #3 (Title): 758 words

TOTAL WORD COUNT: 7258

Etc.

If you're working on a fic for an anon fest, where you can't reveal the title of the fic, just use "Anon Fest" and put down your word count. For example:

Fic #1: 6500 words
Anon Fest: 0 words
Fic # 2: 890 words

TOTAL WORDS: 8390

Etc.

We will then have a check-in post at 48 hours, where you come back and leave a comment to your original sign-up with your updated word count. For example:

Fic #1: 8752 words
Fic #2: 1875 words
Fic #3: 890

TOTAL WORDS WRITTEN: 11,517

NEW WORDS WRITTEN: (Number of new words here)

Then, at 72 hours, so Monday, we will close the word war, and have you leave your final word count as a comment to your original sign-up.

We go through each person's sign up and tally up the results and distribute various "prizes" to the overall word count winner, writers who write 10K+ words, plus writers who manage 8K+ and 5K+ words. As well, we give out 2 random prizes to two writers who didn't write 5K+ or more, but who participated and did their best!

It's fine if you can only participate for one day. A lot of people don't have time to sit and write for 72 hours straight :D

We also have two chat rooms for our community. HD Writers is for general writing/canon/characterization chat. HD SRS BZNS is for mini word wars between community members and participants in the bigger word war. So, writers in SRS BZNS will all write as many words as they can between 15 to 30 minutes, and check in with each other via the chatroom. More info on the chat rooms:

The Chatzy rooms are available 24-7 for writing discussion and support: There's the regular HD Writers (http://www.chatzy.com/hdwriters) room and the SRS BZNS (http://www.chatzy.com/srsbzns) room for timed writing and word wars.

Well, I'm sold :D will be joining as quickly as possible, have a bunch of ideas I need to finish, or continue writing, so this should be fun :) Luckily for me this round isn't hd only, so I can finish a lot of my other stories :D
