Date: 2011-09-18 01:38 pm (UTC)Obviously for fests other people's prompts form the basis of ideas, but even these often need to wait for the spark of inspiration.
In more specific terms? My best ideas come to me in the shower when I have no possible way to record them, and are often gone before I get a chance to write them down. It sucks. A lot.

Date: 2011-09-18 06:16 pm (UTC)2) If I can't think of something or if I just want to write something small and less crazy, I write Video!Fics. I go on youtube, watch a bunch of Fanvids, find one I like, message the maker for permission, and I write a oneshot based on the Fanvid's plotline. This way, I don't need to think up actions that make up the plot; just the reasons behind those actions.
3) If I'm really desperate for new ideas, I read old prompt masterlists from old fests and combine a few prompts.
