[identity profile] smirkingcat.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] hd_writers
another monday another post of some resources i found, which may help you with your writing, so lets get right into it for the last time in may (omg time sure flies!)

  • first we have this blog entry about the 12 stages of physical intimacy. this is for when you struggle with writing sex or something close to sex, and it is a tldr version- i highly recommend if you have time to check out the original source because it makes a good read. also if you are interested: i have trouble writing sex scenes because i lack the proper wording in english, while in german i know how to move between romantic and vulgar in english these lines are too blurred for me *i know you want it, i know you want it* *dreadful song sing along*

  • next i want to recommend this blog entry: about how to deal with PTSD because while many authors do it very awesome, some of us still struggle with it, and especially this part:

What you do first is establish some coping skills. Sure, initially you don't expect a person who's been traumatized to be able to use those coping skills when hyper-aroused, but think of it as planting bulbs in the fall--you don't expect them to sprout until the spring. You work with the person on safety and what's referred to as "grounding" skills. Grounding is all about staying in the present.

which is really a very important part when it comes to healing, and still is only the first step
and in fact i can recommend the whole series found here
also if you are interested in that topic- let me know i have some science articles that i can share with you ;)

  • and last but not least lets have a back to basics monday with this rec from [livejournal.com profile] themightyflynn explaining complete sentences. while often a fragment can be used for style or to make a certain point stick, or for a comment to really hit home, other times it reduces the quality from our work, so let us make sure we use fragments when we want them and when we need them, and not just because we randomly can!

this concludes the may recs!
successful writing everyone!
go words!
*go on and grab some mojo from the pile right over here*

Thank you for the links, especially the one about PTSD because I'm writing about a character dealing with that, and it is the first time for me so I'm trying to write it as good as I can.
