Monday Resources IV
May. 2nd, 2016 12:36 pma new month, a new week and a new quarter of the year- all the newness this monday has it! and therefore i shall share some new resources with you!
i hope you enjoyed this week's recs and now i have some questions for you:
what do you say is bi-weekly working for you?
am i giving you enough time to check it all out?
do you want more tips on one certain topic that i so far completely ignored? (i am posting here what catches my fancy in hope to motivate you to get words down- so if you have something you need to know or read or be motivated on, let me know and i shall dig around the net trying to find something for you)
also do you have a tip you want to share, but are thinking: "meh"- just pm me or write me a mail smirkingcat[at] yandex. com and i shall check it out and include it in a future post [with your name or without it]
- so for today's recs i start with something a little on the long site, and once again about the human brain (and yes it is because i'm very interested and also because i do real life related stuff with it) This is your Brain on Metaphors by Robert Sapolsky is not so much about writing or wording but about how our brains deal with metaphors. why i believe it is useful is because of all the explanations you get, but also because of all the way you start to think about uhh what metaphor comes to mind next? how can i use it? and even better, how can i get the emotional response from my reader that i am looking for?
and also last but not least reason you should check this out, if you have the time of course is, because it is never wrong to expand knowledge, because even if it might not be useful today, maybe someday? - as a next treat i have for you the Enyclopedia Mythica. here you can go and check out all the myths you can think of and then some. it's always not only a nice treat when you are in search of some creature, gods, magic but also if you want to have some plot points, because while myths are usually quite short they also have a lot of plot and a moral they want to teach. never to mention that its also quite interesting just to browse through the page and read whatever catches your fancy. so go and enjoy!
- and the last enty this week is this short article about The 5 Absolute Dimensions of Character Personality.
this is a quick short read, that can help you get to know your character some more, but if you have the time at hand you may want to check out the comments- there are thought -jewels hidden there!
