Total Words So Far: 6800. Which seems a lot, but at a guesstimate that's ¼ of the story at best ... quite possibly less. *facepalms*

If You Set Other Goals (get characters to hook up, find a way to work in some smut/angst/fluff, reach a certain plot point, whatever), Are You Progressing? i Well, I've established the framework in which to tell the story, but if possible I'd like to finish this chapter and the next, then dive fully into the actual plot.
Anything To Share (flailing, requests for butt-kicking, pep-talks, snippets, etc.)? Anybody else hate exposition, no matter how necessary? *headdesk* And WHY do I always catch plotbunnies that grow to epic proportions?!?
Oh, and how's this for a snippet?
"It'll do," Narcissa declared. "It has family history, the colours are right, and while the flower motif is a bit of a stretch, season-wise, it's still appropriate for spring."
"So will this," Andromeda said, coming over with a large, heavy-looking vase she'd retrieved from a glass-fronted cabinet in one corner. It was made from a somewhat opaque, warm, yellow material and decorated with a relief of near-nude women. "It's good crystal, and the right colour."
"It's also somewhat risqué," Narcissa commented. "Really, Andi – dancing nymphs in a state of near-undress? There'll be children present!"
"Oh, pish. They've likely seen their mothers wearing as little or less on the beach, and what could be more fitting for a Beltane fertility symbol?"
"Maybe, but still …" Narcissa frowned, turning the vase this way and that.
"You've turned into a prude, Cissy."
"Better that than corrupt innocent minds!"
Harry decided to intervene before the sisters could seriously get into one of their frequent arguments where Andromeda's more liberal views clashed with Narcissa's Pureblood notions of propriety.
"This vase belonged to my mum's maternal grandmother," he said. "It was a wedding present back around 1930, and was designed by a famous French craftsman. Hermione tells me it's quite valuable these days."
Narcissa paused in her tirade and lifted an eyebrow. "Really?"
"Uh huh," he nodded. "I gather that they're still being made and even new are rather expensive, but an original, and in this particular colour … I think she mentioned the worth's at least in four figures. Galleons, too, not pounds." Harry hid a smile. He'd had a feeling that bit of information would impress Narcissa. Carefully avoiding Andromeda's knowing eyes, he added ingeniously, "Besides, I doubt the kids will look at the vase closely anyway. Well, Teddy might, but he's fifteen already, so …"
"I don't want to know what my grandson may or may not be familiar with in regards to semi-nude nymphs," Andromeda said primly, blithely ignoring her sister's muttered "Hypocrite!". Her lips were twitching, though. "We'll take it."

Yes, and this chapter just didn't want to stop. I wrote half of it over the day and was quite happy with that. And tonight I've written 'the first talk after years' and they just didn't shut up. It's nearly midnight and, Jesus, how did that happen?
