I think it only fair to point out that it's not just the internet that distracts me. For instance, today I am rewatching Never Mind The Buzzcocks and looking up pictures of last year's Eurovision Song Contest (although, that last is actually sort of relevant to fanfic...) instead of writing *headdesk*
If I squint and turn my head and look *just like that* I could say that the fact that I'm watching LotR is fic-related, since there are references in my story. And the tab is open with the story in it. Of course, the LotR references are already written... *joins you in headdesking*
Yeah...and even when it is fic-related I get a bit overenthusiastic. Really? When you have nine tabs of research open for a PWP SOMETHING HAS GONE WRONG.
BUT IT HAS TO BE AUTHENTIC PWP in a magical world between two perfect, gorgeous male characters who...shit. Never mind. You were saying about overenthusiastic?
Research is one of the ways I justify all the fic-writing to myself, tbh. IT IS EDUCATIONAL, OKAY?
And yes, if character A is a young man on his Grand Tour, all alone in nineteenth century Florence and about to be roughly and thoroughly deflowered by character B, it is vital to know what the mattress is stuffed with, and which bridge his pensione is near AND NO WONDER WRITING ANYTHING TAKES ME SO BLOODY LONG JFC.
IKR? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF...I spent two hours last night setting up a second LJ account for a friend of mine, and making icons for it. IT FELT REALLY IMPORTANT AT THE TIME, YOU KNOW?
YES. I spent an additional FOUR HOURS today mucking around with a picture I had already declared FINISHED. Now? Not so much. WHEN YOU START MUCKING YOU SOMETIMES CAN'T STOP. Let that be a lesson to... is that something SHINY?

This is why I've been at 1k words of this chapter for...well. We won't talk about how long, shall we?
