βIn many cases when a reader puts a story aside because it 'got boring,' the boredom arose because the writer grew enchanted with his powers of description and lost sight of his priority, which is to keep the ball rolling.β
β Stephen King, On Writing
Remember, a large part of what makes a story is conflict, which can be internal or external. Story's bogged down? Blow something up! This doesn't have to mean a physical explosion. Just change things. Switch directions. Pull the rug out from under your characters and see how they resolve it on the way to the climax of your novel.
