They did never really discuss what happens once Bond disappears, what goes on in those shady warehouses, abandoned buildings, high tech labs, etc, etc; what goes on in his head, what had been done to his body. They simply didn't discuss it, the same way they didn't discuss Q's emotions, worries, his past, his name.
There was a whole lot of not discussing things going on and not enough words to fill the silence that settled between them when they ran out of things to say in the quiet moments after work.
