1 ! The war begins as of Midnight, the START of Friday, February 15th according to your local time. If I've calculated correctly, this post should be up in plenty of time that even the time travelers on the other side of the world will be able to start at the beginning of their own day!
2 ! The war ends as of Midnight, the END of Monday, February 18th according to your local time. You will have FOUR AWESOME DAYS of writing.
3 ! To participate, please check-in with a comment below. You may also post your beginning word counts in order to help you keep track of your progress. All members of

5 ! The hd_writers chatroom is there as always to serve as inspiration and encouragement, as well as the SrsBzns chatroom. Please try to stay on the topic of writing as much as possible during the word war! The SrsBzns room should be focused strictly on timed word wars without the additional chat. For inspiration, writing talk, encouragement, etc. please visit the main room.
6 ! You don't have to participate the entire weekend, just jump in whenever you can and do any amount of writing in order to qualify.

Just want to write the words, and remember to share what I did.(not the actual words as most everything needs to remain anonymous, but share that I did it. I tend to sign up and then forget, or not be able to figure out how to count the words. Is this my original rough draft word count, or what I end up with all editing is completed? For me, these are 2 wildly different word counts.

Date: 2013-02-14 02:56 pm (UTC)When I count words, I just keep track daily of what I do. What I add, what I delete... I have a spreadsheet so that I write my starting count in it, then add another cell with the new count, and then have another cell that calculates it for me. And if you want a project based goal instead of a word based goal, that's cool! Finishing a project is JUST as important as trying to make however specific many number of words.

Date: 2013-02-15 01:55 pm (UTC)BTW, if I might suggest (being someone who has chronic pain issues)... if your arm pain has any possibility of radiating down from the shoulder (mine does, which is why I think of it)... grab a tennis ball and wedge it between your shoulder and the wall. The fleshy bit, right at the back of the arm, then sliding closer to the shoulderblade. I find that sometimes getting those particular muscles to release will allow the nerve in the shoulder (which radiates through elbow to wrist) to get some breathing room and makes my hands work WAY better. Me, the tennis ball, and the wall have a lovely relationship of self-massage. *wry smile*
And I'm probably being WAY too personal, so I apologize. Tell me to hush if you'd like!
