Do you feel like you're telling your story, but there aren't enough words? Maybe you're missing something... pause for a moment and step into the mind of one of your characters. Now take a look around. Where are you standing? What do you smell? Is the air cold or warm, does it smell crisp like fall, or like the wet mud of a summer storm? What can you reach out and touch? Are the colours vibrant or dull?

Setting is important to help the reader know where your character is, and how they interact with the world around them. And in NaNo terms, setting gives us wordcount! Revel in the words used to describe the setting, and your word count will suddenly be easy to achieve.

While you're here, check in below and let us know how you did yesterday with your writing, and how you're doing overall! Whether you're ahead or behind, remember, ALL WORDS ARE AWESOME WORDS and just by writing you are making progress. Need some encouragement or cheerleading or just a place to vent your frustrations? Let us know!
