“A vampire, Sammy? Really?” Dean scoffed, looking his younger brother up and down.
“The shop didn’t have anything under 10 dollars except vampire-teeth. Besides, it’s not like we’ve seen a vampire, so I won’t be bothered by how obviously fake it is. It really bothers me to see witches around with warts and all, when I know they can be your next-door neighbor, or the most dedicated soccer mom around. Not to mention that ghosts,” Sam said, getting defensive straight away.
“Slow down there, Sammy, I didn’t mean to offend you or anything, it’s just so cliché,” Dean said, smirking.
“Well, every Halloween costume is cliché. I’m just trying not to contradict myself,” Sam said.
Dean stopped for a second, then looked a little puzzled.
“I’m not even sure where you learn all these words, but someday, I’m going to have to get a dictionary just to understand you. Just you wait and see,” he said, sliding on his jacket, (he didn’t have a costume on himself, 12 year olds were much too cool for that)
“Now lets go before it’s gets too late. You know Dad wants us to be home by 11 sharp,” he added as he dragged Sammy out the door.
Sorry about my SPN icons which are Cas, Dean/Cas related! I loved this - it was so cute but knowing what happens and the 'terrors' they play with as kids becoming real for them makes it really poignant too, like Marauder era HP....I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
I'm glad you liked it. Yes, these things are always bit poignant when we know what happens later on. Thanks for reading. Also, Cas is a beauty to remember as well as Dean and Sam.
Title: Costumes Character: Lavender Brown Rating: G Word Count: 184 Notes/Warnings: Implied violence.
Lavender always did have the best costumes. Every Halloween or any occasion, really, she would adorn one of her latest designs that she had created and be referred to as the most creative. She wore the way people viewed her as a badge of honour. She knew that some thought her shallow and silly, but she really didn’t care. She was who she was. Those who didn’t understand her would simply have to deal with it.
But now when she studies herself in the mirror, she no longer sees the vibrant colours and a large grin. What she sees is the mark of her attacker, his anger, his rage as he had lunged for her. Every time she traced the scar she would remember Fenrir Greyback and the way he had looked at her.
But before she leaves the mirror, she has something she must do: she smiles. She still wears the prettiest clothes and the latest hairstyles, but her smile is the lie. It makes everyone think that she’s fine when she isn’t. Lavender knows it’s the best costume she has ever had.
