“I can’t believe that man just dumped everything from his bowl into your bag only because you were such a gorgeous Cinderella,” Hugo said, still moping.
“It just goes to show you that working on your costume does pay off. You should work on yours next year and you might get more candy. I mean, a ghost Hugo? That’s not even original, and to do it with a simple sheet, that’s not going to get you anywhere,” Rose said, sounding exactly like her mother.
Ron, always staying a few steps away, as “not to ruin their image” like Rose put it, smirked at his children’s bickering. He couldn’t help it, but sometimes he ended up comparing his children with himself and Hermione when they first became friends. Or, more properly, all the way through Hogwarts. Rose had the same airy, ‘I knew something you didn’t’ tone as her mother, while Hugo seemed to have gotten his fair share of Ron’s obliviousness.
“All my friends were going as witches or cowboys, I didn’t want to be like that,” Hugo started, but he didn’t get his point out, as his sister interrupted him.
“So you decided to be a ghost instead? It’s not even like ghosts are, you know ghosts aren’t white, they’re see-through images of their living selves,” Rose said, matter of fact.
Ron snickered, before thinking about how this would end.
“Kids, lets go find uncle Harry and see if Albus and Lily have as much candy as you do,” he said, distracting Hugo from responding to Rose.
When the three of them looked up and forward, they could see two copies of James Sirius Potter walking towards them. James and Teddy had decided to dress up as identical twins this year, Teddy morphing into James easily, shocking every person that greeted them.
This instant, Ron was just glad for the distraction, besides, it’s not like he could lecture them about the visibility of magic, having driven a flying car over London himself.

Ron hated Halloween for one reason and one reason only: he hated walking. Flying was a great pastime, but walking was far from it. He was convinced that he had gotten a healthy dose and then some when he had been hunting Horcruxs with Harry and Hermione during their seventh year in Hogwarts.
One of the cons of having children is to amuse them constantly. And Halloween was one of those times because of some silly Muggle tradition that Hermione taught them.
Every year they went walking as they knocked on doors and begged for treat, Ron tiring of it every ear, until Hermione decided that bribery was in order. Once Ron worked out getting ten percent of the stash, he was much more lenient.
