And it's about Quidditch.

So, scoring I get. But how it makes a difference to whether a team moves on or loses for good...not so much. Remember when Harry would say stuff like, "If Ravenclaw beats Hufflepuff by so many points and then Slytherin beats Ravenclaw by so many other points, then they'll move on to the final match." What does that MEAN? Why does it matter how many points each team wins by? If Slytherin beats Ravenclaw by ten points, is it not the same as if Slytherin beats Ravenclaw by ten hundred? Would Slytherin not move on either way? Maybe this is something that's obvious to a sport enthusiast, but that would not be me. >_> Halp?

(Can you tell I'm writing a fic about Quidditch? *cough*)

I totally don't remember the "then they'll move on to the final match" bit in the books. Oops! I always assumed it was a mini league with the 4 teams and the score was important in the same way that goal difference is when teams end up winning/losing the same number of games. Hmm... interesting question!
