Welcome to the Harry/Draco Canon Qualification Quiz, round one! Below you will find 35 quotations from the Harry Potter novels -- your quest is to identify which book each quotation comes from. That's it! But be advised, some of the quotations are more difficult than others, and you may find yourself challenged here and there as you complete this quiz. There are 7 Harry Potter novels and the quiz has five quotations from each book. Each correct answer is worth 1 point. Your goal is to earn as many points as you're able to.
You may use the books, the e-books, the audiobooks, or any other canon reference you have available. However, we encourage you to first try and guess which quotations come from which book on your own before choosing to research. The quotations vary in their level of difficulty, but the one most important thing the quotations have in common is they showcase either Harry or Draco or both.
While this quiz is guaranteed to be super fun for all you canon h0rs out there, admittedly Livejournal is not set up to handle 43 answers in a single reply, so here's what we'd like to do:
1. Copy and Paste the quiz into an e-mail
2. Enter your answers directly after each quotation; just the book title is fine and abbreviations are no problem
3. Email your quiz with answers to
slytherincesss at slytherincess[at]gmail[dot]com with "H/D Canon Quiz" in the subject header
Results will be posted, along with a key to the quiz so you can check your answers.
Enjoy the Harry/Draco Canon Qualification Quiz and please take until Monday 6 August at 12:00 A.M. GMT to complete the quiz. Good luck!

1. ‘Look who it is.’
---
2. ‘Trying not to think about it, are we?’ said Malfoy softly, looking around at all three of them. ‘Trying to pretend it hasn’t happened?’
‘Get out,’ said Harry.
---
3. ‘And [the Sorting Hat] wants all the houses to be friends?’ said Harry, looking over at the Slytherin table, where Draco Malfoy was holding court. ‘Fat chance.’
‘Well, now, you shouldn’t take that attitude,’ said Nick reprovingly. ‘Peaceful co-operation, that’s the key. We ghosts, though we belong to separate houses, maintain links of friendship. In spite of the competitiveness between Gryffindor and Slytherin, I would never dream of seeking an argument with the Bloody Baron.’
---
4. ‘Jealous?’ said Malfoy, who didn’t need to shout any more; half the courtyard was listening in. ‘Of what? I don’t want a foul scar right across my head, thanks. I don’t think getting your head cut open makes you that special, myself.’
---
5. [I]t got heavier and heavier; [Harry] tried to pull it off but it tightened painfully – and there was Malfoy, laughing at him as he struggled with it ...
---
6. Malfoy was looking at Snape and Harry in some surprise.
‘It’s all right, Draco,’ said Snape, lowering his wand. ‘Potter is here for a little remedial Potions.’
Harry had not seen Malfoy look so gleeful since [...]
[Snape] turned and swept from his office. Malfoy mouthed, ‘Remedial Potions?’ at Harry behind Snape’s back before following him.
---
7. ‘I’m Draco Malfoy, I’m Draco, I’m on your side!’
---

---
9. Draco Malfoy didn’t go red, but a pink tinge appeared in his pale cheeks. ‘I’d be careful if I were you, Potter,’ he said slowly.
---
10. [t]wo people appeared on the other side of the glass – and one of them was the very last person Harry wanted to meet when he was lost, covered in soot and wearing broken glasses: Draco Malfoy.
---
11. He despised Malfoy still for his infatuation with the Dark Arts, but now the tiniest drop of pity mingled with his dislike.
---
12. The silence seemed to tauten and strain as Dumbledore spoke. Harry glanced at Malfoy. Malfoy was not looking at
Dumbledore, but making his fork hover in midair with his wand, as though he found the Headmaster’s words unworthy
of his attention.
---
13. ‘Like them, Potter?’ said Malfoy loudly, as Harry approached. ‘And this isn’t all they do – look!’ He pressed his badge into his chest, and the message upon it vanished, to be replaced by another one, which glowed green [...]
---
14. A voice suddenly echoed behind Harry and Ron. Draco Malfoy was strolling towards them, and for the first time in his life, Harry was pleased to see him.
---

---
16. [t]he first thing they saw was Draco Malfoy, who seemed to be entertaining a large group of Slytherins with a very funny story. As they passed, Malfoy did a ridiculous impression of a swooning fit and there was a roar of laughter.
---
17. ‘Potter, you can skin Malfoy’s Shrivelfig,’ said Snape, giving Harry the look of loathing he always reserved just for him.
---

---

‘We were just discussing your friend [...],’ Malfoy said to Ron. ‘Just trying to imagine what he’s saying [...]. D’you think he’ll cry [...] –’
SPLAT!
Malfoy’s head jerked forwards as the mud hit him; his silverblond hair was suddenly dripping in muck.
‘What the –?’
---
21. ‘Look –’ [Harry] murmured, holding out his arm to stop Malfoy.
---
22. Malfoy chuckled softly. ‘Scare easily, don’t they?’ he said lazily. ‘I suppose your daddy told you all to hide? What’s he up to – trying to rescue the Muggles?’
‘Where’re your parents?’ said Harry, his temper rising. ‘Out there wearing masks, are they?’
Malfoy turned his face to Harry, still smiling. ‘Well ... if they were, I wouldn’t be likely to tell you, would I, Potter?’

---
28. Harry had just descended the last marble step into the Entrance Hall when Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle emerged from a door on the right that Harry knew led down to the Slytherin common room. Harry stopped dead; so did Malfoy and the others. The only sounds were the shouts, laughter and splashes drifting into the Hall from the grounds through the open front doors.
Malfoy glanced around – Harry knew he was checking for signs of teachers – then he looked back at Harry and said in a low voice, ‘You’re dead, Potter.’
---
29. ‘You know your mother, Malfoy?’ said Harry – both he and Hermione had grabbed the back of Ron’s robes to stop him launching himself at Malfoy – ‘That expression she’s got, like she’s got dung under her nose? Has she always looked like that, or was it just because you were with her?’
Malfoy’s pale face went slightly pink. ‘Don’t you dare insult my mother, Potter.’
‘Keep your fat mouth shut, then,’ said Harry, turning away.
BANG!

BONUS 1: ‘Where’re you going?’ Harry demanded.
‘Yeah, I’m really going to tell you, because it’s your business, Potter,’ sneered Malfoy. ‘You’d better hurry up, they’ll be waiting for the Chosen Captain – the Boy Who Scored – whatever they call you these days.’
---
BONUS 2: ‘You fainted, Potter? Is Longbottom telling the truth? You actually fainted?’
---
BONUS 3: ‘Famous Harry Potter,’ said Malfoy. ‘Can’t even go into a bookshop without making the front page.’
---
BONUS 4: Ron threw the Quaffle to Alicia, who passed back to Harry, who passed to George ...
---
BONUS 5: ‘Hey, Potter, how’s your scar feeling?’ called Malfoy. ‘Sure you don’t need a lie down? It must be, what, a whole week since you were in the hospital wing, that’s a record for you, isn’t it?’
---
BONUS 6: Harry and Draco Malfoy had been enemies ever since their very first journey to Hogwarts. A pale boy with a pointed face and white-blond hair, Draco greatly resembled his father. ---
BONUS 7: Harry did not dare look directly at Draco, but saw him obliquely: a figure slightly taller than he was, rising from an armchair, his face a pale and pointed blur beneath white-blond hair.
---
BONUS 8: ‘Come and get it, Potter!’
