Title: Take a chance with me? Beta:sordid_humors Word Count: 327 Pairing(s)/Character(s): Harry/Charlie, mentions of Hermione/Ron Author Notes: Okay, so … this is a bit more … flangsty than the prompt is? Right? Anyway, it doesn’t matter.
“Come on Harry, Ron and Hermione are not your responsibility. They’re going to be perfectly okay just the two of them. That’s why they’re in a relationship together, one that does not include you,” Charlie said. “Just, come with me? Please, I’ve been planning this for weeks,”
Harry stopped pacing long enough to look over at his boyfriend, who was sitting on the couch, rubbing his temples, resignation and frustration battling behind his eyes. Harry knew he was being unreasonable; of course he should just go, stop worrying and spend an amazing time alone in a tropical treehouse with his boyfriend. He just... Charlie wanted to go for a whole month. Harry hadn't been apart from Ron and Hermione for that long since he'd moved out from the Dursleys. He'd gotten used to their company, like they were his arms, left and right, forever attached. You wouldn't go on vacation without your arms, right?
“I’m sorry Charlie. I know you’re right, like always, it’s just … I don’t know how to be away from them anymore. We’ve done everything together since the war and I guess I don’t want to leave them. I wish I wasn’t being this horrible to you, but...” Harry tried to explain, cursing himself for being like this, for denying Charlie a little vacation with his boyfriend.
“It’s okay Harry, I understand. I knew you were a bit... crazy when I started dating you, this is just an offshoot of that. I have a suggestion though,” Charlie said, sounding unsure. He took a deep breath, as if trying to relax. “What if we go, but we don’t have to go for a month--just a week maybe? If you start feeling bad, we’ll Apparate home that second. Just, take a chance with me?” Charlie said, reaching out a hand.
Harry relented, his love for Charlie overpowering his worry in the moment and took Charlie’s hand. With that, they Apparated away.
