It was the first time I thought, ‘wow, people are right, eye contact is so important.’ I don’t know what it was, or how to describe it, but it made me believe again. Believe in love and basically, just believe in something again.
I stopped believing in a lot of things when I found out what happened to my parents. As special as my grandmother is, she wasn’t exactly loving when she raised me.
Luna saved me though. Her attitude to life shook me out of my funk, forcing me out of my shell and into a better man.

James didn’t know when it happened, but he knew he had succeeded when she didn’t take her eyes away, when they finally had eye contact for more than five seconds.
He knew Sirius would laugh and tell him he still didn’t have what it took, but he did not see what James saw. Sirius did care about James’ love life, but not enough to pay attention to Lilly and all of tiny hints.
James noticed every tiny thing she did, from the way her hand moved when she spoke, to the way she licked her lips, even the way she moved her jaw when she was angry. What he loved the most was seeing her blush every time he flirted with her, even if she still acted like she didn’t like it, or him.
It wouldn’t be long before she would finally agree to go out on a date with him, he just knew it. Maybe another two months, or five if he wasn’t as lucky as he thought, and they would have their first date.
