What? Why? How? Help!

This is one of the reasons I know that I'm not cut out to be a professional writer.

Editing... I hate it. :C

How do you stand reading and rereading the same words over and over again. And I'm only working on about 3-4k... how does anyone edit long things?

But seriously what is your process? How do you get through it without banging your head on a wall. *looks at wall longingly*

Do you have a charity auction thing due you’ve been putting off? Are you eyeing a big bang suspiciously? Does your to-do list depress you? Is there a thing you would like to be doing, only you just cannot seem to make it happen?

Meet BOB, the month-long motivational marathon of productivity, running this April here at [livejournal.com profile] hd_writers.

The Deal: Every week for a month, we the BOB mods will post targets. Meet them, exceed them, wait for next week, it is up to you what you make of them, but for every page of text you produce, for every hour you spend working to achieve your goal, you’ll be awarded points. Er. Internet points. For your team. Then at the end of the month, there’ll be a party post of winners and some sort of celebratory master list. And shit will be done. \o/

ETA: Team posts are now up. Find your team's Common Room and get organized. Don't have a team yet? Check out the descriptions below and join the one that suits you best in their Common Room post.

Team Acromantula | Team Snidget | Team Hinkypunk | Team Billywig

But wait! There's more! )

I have questions you haven’t answered. What now? Take it to comments—you’re probably not the only one wondering—or PM a BOB mod: [livejournal.com profile] curiouslyfic or [livejournal.com profile] kinky_kneazle.

This is an informal, 'What do you do in this particular circumstance?' sort of question, so please jump in and say whatever.
Lay down thy gathered wisdom on me, please. [grin] Especially all of you wonderful Longevity Writers, those who've been in the fandom for, er, Quite a While.
What do you do when you feel your creative shelf life has expired?

Or, more precisely, when you are in a slough of utter despondment over your inability to write anything at all that contains the faintest spark? When you simply are bored to copious weeping by your own words, what do you do?

Mods, my luvs, may I request a tag for Advice?

EDIT: Hours later, Tiger!Time. My very dears, thank you. Ahem, THANK YOU! That's all sound advice, and many excellent directions to pursue and ponder, and I very much appreciate all of you taking the time to help me. I am struggling where I should be finding joy; that's not a good thing. Emotions bleed through, always, and that's not what I'd like to give back to either myself or the fandom I adore. So...thank you. You've done me a good turn, this day, and I am very much grateful. May Luck Dragons and all fortunate beings smile upon you and yours! Glomps from Tiger!
