Well, and that does go to show that one person's R is another's NC-17. At some point, this does indeed become subjective. The two examples above -- the first one is hosted at Fiction Alley (R); the second at AO3 (NC-17) and Fiction Alley definitely would not have put it up if it were NC-17, for the reasons I mentioned in my original post. But, some people may still feel the first example is NC-17, and I respect that. Sexuality is a very personal thing, and peoples' interpretations will differ. :)
