Similar genre certainly. Like Mpreg, things like that but not the exact same story. However I am rather unoriginal and so sometimes I stumble upon things that are similar to what I have in an unfinished document or stuff that I've already posted. Then again that may be why they are called cliches. :D

YES! Sometimes I'll read something and be thinking 'Oh, it will go here next' and the author will pull something completely out of their hat and I'll want to write the story that I originally saw. Sometimes there'll be the hint of a backstory or a quote that will send my imagination of somewhere else.

My current work for [livejournal.com profile] polybigbang came from a severitis fic I read where Severus, James and Lily were in a triad relationship, with James in the centre. Severus had his memory wiped at some stage, so he'd forgotten the lot. I loved the idea of them as a trio so much, and wanted to read their story so much (it was largely skipped over in the fic), that I grabbed it and ran with it. I've made a lot of changes to that initial idea to make it my own, but the spark, the seed, the pairing and the memory loss came from that fic.

At times I do, especially when it comes to art. I know for a fact that I've seen some art just recently that has ignited a completely psycho bunny in my head and I can't seem to make it disappear (until I write it, at least, which I will be doing very soon). While some stories can create some sort of plots/bunnies in my head sometimes, I don't usually run with them in fear of unconsciously creating something similar to the story I read.

Oh yes. I'll read/see/watch something and go "Well, if I wrote this, I would have it be...." and then my crazy bunnies will change the plot so much that it looks nothing like what inspired me in the first place.

I also write Video!Fics for people because sometimes it's just easier to write a complimentary fic to use up the bunny. Besides, gift giving is fun ^_^

Lol, I actually answered this in day 18...sometimes I'll read a certain part of a story and think 'I want to try that'. Usually it's something small like a pairing, or just a certain theme, or even just a small inconsequential scene.

Not usually. Any kind of inspiration I get from a fic would usually just result in blatant plagiarism, and obviously I don't want to do that.

Yes! I am being bunnied by mystwriter right now...in fact, a whole slew of classics has re-lit my fire for writing. And I want canon and difficult themes and to be serious, so...it's rather awesome. Loving it.
The marvy [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules often inspires me, as well. Such a deft touch, that one. There's plenty of other Muses in my cupboard, too, who flush baby bunnies out of my system.

Sometimes, yes. I haven't really acted on it yet, though, except for a little poem about Snape some years ago.

Oh for sure... especially artwork, certain pieces just have such a lovely story hidden inside of them that I have to write it!! I would love to see my own stories made into artwork but so far thats never happened. Also the way a person might draw a character can be inspiring... like [livejournal.com profile] thilia's renditions of older teenage Al have changed my perspective of him completely!! Also certain stories have had me exploring Ginny and Ron in such differing ways then I used to write them. Also in Full Metal Alchemist I have been vastly influenced by [livejournal.com profile] lynx212 and her evil Al fics.
