Celebrating his birthday at the Burrow was a fantastic idea. Harry was surrounded by friends, family, and really good food. He couldn't remember the last time he'd laughed so hard.
Still, something, or rather, someone, was missing. Harry knew they were keeping their relationship a secret until they graduated from Hogwarts, but would it kill his boyfriend to send a gift?
The thought had barely crossed Harry's mind when a large eagle owl swooped unceremoniously down from the sky, landing with trained ease directly in front of him.
"I've seen that owl somewhere before," Ron remarked, frowning. "Can't think where, though."
Hermione was eyeing the owl curiously, brow furrowed.
"Go on, Harry, open it!" urged George.
Harry untied the letter attached to the owl's leg. The owl took off immediately. Taking a deep breath, he opened the envelope.
A puff of smoke rushed out of the envelope, obscuring his vision. An alarmed cry rose from the onlookers, and someone, probably Hermione, muttered an incantation to dispel it.
After some commotion, Harry emerged from behind the smoke, coughing. There was a collective gasp.
"What?" Harry asked.
"You...You're covered in freckles!" Ron gaped.
Harry looked at the skin on his arms. Indeed, little red spots were dusted elaborately across his skin.
Harry hurriedly read through the note enclosed. It said:
"Potter, They say that each freckle is a kiss from an angel. I apologise that I can't be there to give them to you personally. However, if you cast the proper Silencing Charms, I may be able to kiss each one again tonight. As you can imagine, you have freckles everywhere. I repeat, everywhere. Happy birthday. DM"
Harry looked up. The Weasley family was watching him worriedly and Hermione had a knowing look on her face. This was going to be veru difficult to explain, and he was covered in an immense number of freckles, but Harry couldn't help himself grinning. This was the best birthday ever.
