When writing British characters I have found, as an American, that it can be rather hard to capture the language, the attitude, and most of all the traditions. Thanks to some of my amazing British friends here I have gleaned more understanding about these subtle differences between two cultures. winterstorrm suggested “Watching the English” to me and I suggest it to any author of the Harry Potter fandom who wishes to learn a bit more about English culture, whatever nationality you are.

Now we are trying to keep the post short because we would love to have questions. On anything! British culture, slang, pastimes, married life, not-so-married life, raising children, schooling, working, etc. If you can think it you can ask it! Also if you are British and want to contribute to what winterstorrm and I have here then I encourage you to do so! We can always use more knowledge while we journey to write better. :D So come one, come all!

Sunday, April 29 is OLD THINGS DAY!!!

Old things day? You don't need to sound so much like Snape when you say that. Yes, it's old things day, otherwise known as REVISION DAY! For all revision activities, you will get DOUBLE POINTS!!!

What counts? Beta-ing, revising your own or others work, editing of podfic or fic, and colouring of art.

What doesn't count? New things of any sort will only garner regular BOB points, except for...

Sunday, April 29 is also FINISHING BONUS DAY!!!!

Another Finishing Bonus? Yup! We'll double all finishing bonuses on Sunday. Want to know why? Because we CAN!!! Personally, I have two things to finish on Sunday, so wish me luck!!!

How do I claim? Comment here before the end of Monday, April 30th, with your revised things count and your things finished today record and we'll do the rest!

Anything else I should know? YES!!! READ HERE!!! Don't forget that this week is 8 days long. There is no need to do the main check-in on Sunday/Monday - the final check-in is Monday/Tuesday and will include everything done since last Monday. And Monday is the last day of BOB!
