This week, on Tuesday, March 13, [livejournal.com profile] hd_writers will be celebrating its one-year anniversary! Thank you to everyone who has contributed or participated in any capacity this year! Without you, our little comm wouldn't be nearly as much fun or as helpful as it is! We have lots of great things coming up in the future, starting with another GSD week and several upcoming discussions and activities starting this week to celebrate our anniversary and continuing into the next few months!

To kick off our celebration, I would like to share with you some of the highlights of our first year!

In the last year we've had many interesting discussions! Here are a few new and old discussions that you may still want to read through or contribute to:
- Re-read or Re-write
- Beat the Negativity
- On Plagiarism, Credit Etc
- Phone Apps
- Writing Music and Soundtracks
- Stepping out of your Confort Zone
- The strangest place you've written an idea down

We have also had some fantastic essays contributed to the comm by mods and members alike:

A couple of other articles of interest that you may want to note are:
- Building a Character Sheet or Outline
- 25 Things Writers Should Stop Doing.
- The 10 Types of Writers’ Block (and How to Overcome Them)

We are here to help and support your writing in any way that we can! Let us inspire you! Get started with this fantastic video or let our members tell you what works for them.

Feel free to ask if you need help brainstorming or we're also happy to help with any questions you may have about writing sex.

Some of my personal favorite posts have been on organization. Or maybe you'd be interested in some of the canon questions that have been posted, including discussions on daydream charms, occlumency, summer homework, metamorphmagi, price of wands, and Hogwarts classes.

If you want something fun, check out the writing icons that our members have posted to share or take some time to explore the random prompt generators.

There have been so many fabulous resources and contributions shared here in the short time the community has been open! I'm sure I've missed something noteworthy! Please, explore our tags and our masterlist of helpful links at your leisure.

Thank you again! I hope you enjoy the community and please join in anytime! Keep an eye out for our upcoming events!

Yes, it's me! My procrastination reached epidemic level, so it took me another week to post the final tallies. But better late than never, right? Right???

First of all, congratulations to everyone! Over the 72 hours, the word warriors of hd_writers wrote a massive

103,318 WORDS

That's just amazing, guys!!! Well done, everyone!!!

The winner for the weekend was [livejournal.com profile] winterstorrm, who wrote 14,382 words. Congratulations, [livejournal.com profile] winterstorrm!!!

Five intrepid warriors wrote more than 10,000 words over the weekend:
[livejournal.com profile] winterstorrm with 14,382
[livejournal.com profile] tryslora with 12,343
[livejournal.com profile] crazyparakiss with 11,245
[livejournal.com profile] thinkxpink with 10,295
[livejournal.com profile] wantsunicorns with 10,225

Eight people achieved their goal for the weekend!
[livejournal.com profile] winterstorrm, [livejournal.com profile] tryslora, [livejournal.com profile] thinkxpink, [livejournal.com profile] wantsunicorns, [livejournal.com profile] crazyparakiss, [livejournal.com profile] starlitshore, [livejournal.com profile] misbehavingmom, and [livejournal.com profile] kitty_fic

A special shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] wantsunicorns, whose goal was to finish the epic fic she's been working on - and she did!!!

Congratulations to everyone, whether you wrote words or not! The best part about being a writer, is that you can stare into space daydreaming for three days and it can still be an amazingly productive weekend.

And remember: writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of, but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards. (Robert Heinlein)
