New Year's weekend is upon us, but not everyone kicks up their heels and lives it up on New Year's Eve. I myself spend the weekend quietly at home, doing activities I enjoy -- and, like I said before, what's better than writing about our two favorite boys? My friends, 2012 IS THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON -- let's pay homage to our favorite dragon, Draco Malfoy (and if Harry's there too, even better!) This word war is scheduled to run a full 24 hours longer than our usual 72-hour wars, in anticipation that some people will have Monday, January 2nd off and might appreciate the extra writing time. Let's celebrate the new year with Harry and Draco -- or with any other fic or pairing you need to work on. The word war will start at 12:00 a.m. GMT on Friday, 12.30.11 and will run through 12:00 a.m. GMT on Tuesday, 01.03.12. Check-in posts will be provided throughout the holiday weekend, and don't forget our lovely and fabulous prizes: V-gifts; LJ tokens; absurd limericks; drabbles; ficlets; banners; and randomly drawn gifts! Please join us at any time during the weekend (and feel free to check out whenever you need to if you can't go the full four days) for a fun weekend of writing competition.

Leave a comment with 1) What kind of fic you're working on (if for an anon fest, just put anon) and 2) your starting word count for each fic (it may be zero; it may be 100K -- whatever it is you're working on). You are allowed to work on multiple projects at once. For example:

FIC 1: HD-Remix - 0 words
FIC 2: HP Kinkfest - 400 words
FIC 3: HP Intoxicated - 10,000 words

Etc.

Throughout the weekend, we will come back and check in with our new word counts at 24, 48, 72, and 96 hours respectively at this post. Reminder banners with links to the sign-up will be posted to hd_writers throughout the weekend.

ginger_veela reminded us that the Year of the Dragon doesn't officially start until January 23rd. So noted! I'm still excited by the prospect of spending some quality time with my favorite dragon this coming weekend, though. In anticipation for the 23rd! ♥
