Date: 2012-04-22 10:07 pm (UTC)sevenfour (it wouldn't let me post seven) for me - I want to post them all at once on my LJ, as it's one story broken down into sections by prompt (and no worries, they aren't NC-17):Drabble Day Prompts:
1. Billywig
Draco stopped short as Potter entered his apothecary. The hairs on the back of his neck prickled to life.
"Auror Potter, I assure you I have not broken any laws, so if you'll just be on your way --"
"I'm here for some Billywig stinger powder."
Draco stared. What could Potter possibly want with that? "Why?"
Potter blinked. "For a potion. Obviously."
Draco snorted. "The only potions that use Billywig powder are ridiculously difficult to make. And ... well, as you may recall, we were in the same Potions class in school."
Potter pouted but said nothing. Draco resisted the urge to laugh.
"If you'll just tell me what potion it is you need, perhaps I can provide you with the finished product."
Potter ran his hand through his hair, a motion that transported Draco back to their school days. "I ... I have nightmares."
Draco nodded. "Don't we all?"
"Never mind." Potter turned to leave.
"Wait," Draco said, surprised at the anger in Potter's voice. "I didn't mean anything. Just ... well ... I can relate. I have nightmares too. I'd be surprised if someone survived the war without."
Potter considered Draco for a moment before nodding. "Can you help me?"
"I have a tonic in the back."
As Draco watched Potter leave his shop, he wondered what had caused the man to choose his shop.
2. Cake
"Happy Birthday!" Hermione ushered in the cake with an out of tune but enthusiastic song. Harry smiled despite himself
He blew out the candles, his only wish that he might finally be able to move on without decade old nightmares haunting him for the rest of his life.
3. Opposite
Thoughts of Potter haunted Draco for days. The man who'd walked into his shop had surprised him, and had struck him as nearly the opposite of the public Auror.
Potter had done well for himself after Hogwarts. He'd been recruited directly into the Auror training program, and he'd had numerous high-profile successes under his belt since joining. He'd received promotions and accolades and was rumoured to be the next Head Auror.
But he hadn't pretended with Draco. He'd admitted he needed help, and he'd accepted it from Draco of all people.
The man remained a mystery.
4. Cooking
Harry breathed in the aroma of onions and butter as they sizzled in the pan. He smiled. Nothing relaxed him quite like cooking. Strange, that, since his first experiences with the culinary arts had been at his Aunt Petunia's hand - hardly a pleasurable experience.
But at some point over the years, he'd managed to draw pleasure from the experience. It might have had something to do with the genuine appreciation he received from those he cooked for.
Unbidden, the image of Malfoy at his table, partaking in a meal Harry had made, came to mind.
Harry frowned, wondering where on earth that thought had come from.

Date: 2012-04-22 10:07 pm (UTC)5. Picture of pen & journal
Draco put down his pen - a gift from Pansy last Christmas and a considerably less cumbersome instrument than his usual quill. He stared at the blank page of his journal in frustration.
His mind refused to cooperate, thoughts of Potter invading his consciousness and interfering with his concentration like they hadn't done since school.
6. Question
"Are you okay, Harry?"
He considered Hermione's question for a while before responding. "I suppose."
"You seem to be better lately; at least you seem more well-rested."
"Yeah, I've been getting more sleep."
"But you seem preoccupied."
Harry nodded. He was nearly out of the tonic Malfoy had given him, and had delayed long enough. He was avoiding returning, but had to go back. Sure, he could have gone elsewhere, but for some reason he trusted Malfoy. He had no reason to, but there it was. The last thing he needed was anyone to get word that he needed a potion to get him through his days.
7. Horoscope
Draco pinched the bridge of his nose. "You aren't actually taking her seriously."
"She said that I would find success if I went to France."
"Pansy, you do realise that divination is not reliable, right? I mean it's little better than Muggles relying on horoscopes."
She waved his words away. "Well, obviously. But still, it's Paris. You know I've always adored the city."
He rolled his eyes. "But your life is here."
She smiled. "I'll miss you too, darling." She touched a hand to his cheek. "But I'll only be a Floo call away."
"How will I ever get through Mother's Sunday brunches without you?"
"You'll just have to find yourself the perfect man to accompany you. One who has the strength to stand up to Narcissa's scrutiny. Perhaps a strong Auror type?"
His eyes widened briefly. "Oh shut it, you."
She laughed. "I'll write you with my Floo coordinates soon."

Date: 2012-04-23 03:06 am (UTC)Harry finally relented and returned to Malfoy's shop.
"Cutting it a little close, aren't you?" Malfoy said by greeting.
Harry blinked in confusion. "What?"
"The tonic. I gave you two weeks' worth, which would mean you'll have used the last dose yesterday."
Harry smirked. "Do you keep track of all your customers' purchases so diligently?"
Malfoy lifted his head and looked down his nose pompously, something that reminded Harry of their school days. "Do you want the potion or not?"
"Please."
Malfoy's eyes widened. "That must have hurt."
Harry snorted. "Not as much as I would have thought."
A week later, Harry found himself unable to get the snarky former Slytherin out of his mind. He knew Ron would tell him he was becoming obsessed with Malfoy all over again, just like in sixth year. Only this time, Harry had no reason for it.
Well, none that he'd share with Ron anyway.
