Title: Wet confrontation
Words count: 746
Pairing: Draco/Harry (preslash)

Harry was returning from a short visit at Hagrid’s, he wanted to show Harry his newest pet, which Harry was sure had to be released once the headmaster discovered it.

He was about to enter one of the side doors of the school when he noticed something, or rather someone, sitting on a large rock behind a tree. Not wanting to leave anyone behind he closed the door and walked towards the stranger, who he soon discovered was no stranger at all.

The first thing he wanted to do was turn around and leave Malfoy, but like before he found out he could not leave someone behind, even if he hated that person.

“Malfoy?” The blond didn’t react, which worried Harry. “Are you okay?” Slowly he walked closer to the Slytherin.

He was no fool and knew something was not right; Malfoy would never ignore him like that. Feeling protective he walked next to Malfoy and sat down in front of him. Malfoy still made no attempt to look at him, his eyes weren’t even open.

Feeling helpless Harry placed his hand on Malfoy’s shoulder, which startled the blond. “Don’t touch me,” he hissed. Confused Harry pulled his hand back.

That was when he noticed how red and puffy his eyes were. Harry might not know much about crying, but he knew it meant something was wrong. “Why are you crying?”Harry asked. Large drops of water fell on them as the wind shook the leafs. Harry stopped caring about the wetness and cold as he gave all of his attention.

“I’m not crying,” Draco said in a sad voice. He must have been embarrassed because he turned away from Harry and stared at the castle instead. Harry watched him closely, wondering what could be so bad that he wasn’t even interested in annoying Harry.

“I know we have had our differences, but I’m willing to look beyond them if it will help you in some way.” Draco shocked him by standing up and pushing Harry so he fell backwards. Harry felt the water as it soaked through his clothes, making it uncomfortable for him.

“You’re wasting your kindness on me Potter, I’m not interesting in being one of your damsel in distress.” Harry continued to stare at Malfoy without saying a word. Malfoy stared back before turning away. Confused Harry didn’t move, wondering just what was happening to Malfoy.

“I only want to help,” he admitted.

“Your help will only worsen the situation Potter.” Malfoy rubbed his face in his hands after he spoke, probably trying to rub some of the water away

“Is there nothing I can do?” This time Malfoy turned around.

“How can you offer to help me when you don’t even know what the problem is?” Malfoy was right, it was a rather large step of trust, even for Harry. He did however know that by giving Malfoy that trust he might open up.

“I often rush into things without thinking, so offering to help a nemesis sounds like a normal thing to do for me.” Malfoy smiled, which shocked Harry because he had not expected that kind of reaction.

“You want to know what’s bothering me?” Harry nodded. “It’s you. The way you walk around the school, acting like you own it. I also hate the way you constantly save everything and everyone. It’s like you can never fail.” Harry did not understand why Malfoy would hate him because he saved people; it wasn’t like he wanted stuff to happen every year where he or his friends ended up in danger.

“You’re angry because of that?”

“I also hate you because you’re so blind.” Malfoy quickly sat down next to Harry and pushed his lips against his, shocking the Gryffindor.

When the kiss ended they stared at each other for a long time before Malfoy stood up and ran. Harry continued to stare at Malfoy’s back until he was gone from his vision.

Only when he was sure the Slytherin would not return did he stand up from the muddy ground. Slowly he made his way into the school, still wondering what Draco meant by all he said, as well as what he did. Harry wasn’t a fool and knew what the kiss meant, but he didn’t understand why he kissed him after telling him how much he hated him.

Deciding to get some answers he walked down towards the Slytherin common room, hoping that was where Malfoy decided to hide.
