Hi everyone! I won't be available today as I'm trying to finish a fest fic, but I'll be in the chatroom tomorrow if anyone wants to join me.

[identity profile] darkravenwrote.livejournal.com 2013-09-01 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like an awesome plan. Just to let you all know, I'm in GMT time so if you're finding it hard to contact me through the chatroom it's probably because I'm asleep.

Please check out my comment in the common room (below this)

Hello RAVENCLAW housemates!

This is a post to ask if any of you are interested in starting the round robin bonus task! We're the intelligent house and we need to prove ourselves! We're always overlooked, always marching on in the background. Well now's the time for us to shine! It's the start of school and we're in our element.

[livejournal.com profile] stephaniejo84, [livejournal.com profile] susannah_wilde, [livejournal.com profile] slowroad and [livejournal.com profile] a_clairvoyante, who's with me!?

Please message me if you're interested in taking part so we don't clog up out house common room, including what method of contact is best for you, e.g. would a gdoc open for messages be the best group solution?

Additionally, I'm happy to say I've been assigned as the Ravenclaw prefect. If anyone has any questions just ask. If you've seen anything you think is confusing I can bring it up with my fellow mods and get it sorted too.

Hope to hear from you all soon!

I like the idea of the round robin but I wonder what would be a convenient time for all of us. I'm based in India. It is nearly eleven-thirty at night and I'm about to head off to bed. I've already completed one of the tasks. I've written a drabble. What do I do now? Do I post it here as a comment?

[identity profile] darkravenwrote.livejournal.com 2013-09-01 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Post the drabble either as a link to the masterpost or the actual drabble here. In the comment you should add what challenge you are posting it for. :D And we (the mods) will add it to the points of the house. (Please add it as a new comment to the common room, not a reply to these comments :) )

As for the round robin, i've set up a gdoc we can use. I'm in the UK and i think some people are US so we're all on different time zones. The way we'll do it is once we've established an order for people writing we'll do it in the gdoc and then just take it in turns to add to the doc.

Have you got an email you can give me to add you to it? (message me if you don't want to put it on a post here) On the gdoc currently, is only a simple what don't you want to write and the random chat. We've got 2 weeks to write it and it only has to be 300 words so don't worry too much :D

I'm still waiting for one person to get back to me.

Congratulations on your drabble.

This is for the assignment requiring us to write a 100-300 word drabble for the prompt: homework. This drabble is h/d and it is exactly 300 words.

...

"I swear they're trying to kill us," Harry said.

"I doubt that McGonagall and co could accomplish what the Dark Lord couldn't," Draco drawled as he continued to work. He had a pile of completed parchments on his side of the table that was at least three times as big the one on Harry's side.

Harry's only response was to snort, as he viciously scratched out something that be had just written. "Professor Delacroix is every bit as sadistic as Snape," he grumbled.

"Gosh! You are such a whiner! I honestly don't know how Granger put up with you all these years," Draco said, as he grabbed the parchment from Harry and started going over it, spelling away the spilled ink and the all the scrach marks and making corrections as he went.

"There," he said, as he handed the parchment back. "Add a final paragraph about the uses of Basilisk venom and you're done."

Draco went back to his homework, leaving Harry staring at him. "Thanks," Harry said and then he went back to work, as well. A few minutes later, he was done. He put down his quill and stretched, smirking when Draco looked at him, his eyes slightly wide as he unconsciously ran his eyes over his boyfriend's body. He saw the smirk and looked away hastily.

"I know what you're trying to do and it's not going to work," Draco said.

"Really?" Harry said and then he slowly began to undo his shirt buttons.

Draco saw him out of the corner of his eye and he found himself reacting to the sight of the well muscled body that he had grown to like very much indeed.

"Bloody hell!" he said as he quickly abandoned his homework.

Hi,
just finished my first assignment:
100 word drabble using the prompt: first night back
It's H/D and somewhat silly ;) If you find any mistakes please don't hesitate to correct me!

Draco was trashing. The blanket he had been clutching to his chest slid down the side of the bed, as he managed to hit Harry in the head.
“Ow, won't you let me sleep?”
“Huh?”, Draco was breathing hard.
“What were you dreaming of anyway?”
“Hogwarts...welcoming feast.”
“Oh! I was dreaming of the first night back, too. Isn't the Great Hall wonderful with all the lights. And meeting your friends again...!”
“No, the Sorting Hat put me into Gryffindor and I wasn't wearing any pants, but my bunny slippers. Please let me die now.”

Awh, poor cute Draco.

You're missing the 'h' in thrashing. I think that's it.

100 word drabble using the prompt: Dumbledore's speech

Harrys first welcoming fest after Dumbledore had died hadn't been welcoming at all. Rather it had made him feel estranged.
The laughter of all the children around him seemed out of place and the Great Hall did not glow in the same way.
He didn't know whether it were the candles, the taste of carton the food left behind or even the stars he could occasionally see through the thick curtain of clouds above his head.
It didn't feel right and although Professor McGonagall tried everything in her might her speech couldn't rival the ones his former director had given.

(I hope it still counts even though the words are not directly mentioned)

200 word drabble using the prompt: Quill

Harry had come to the library to at least feign the illusion of doing his Potions essay.
It was due in two days but Harry just didn't see the gain in writing three foot about dragon dung of all things! He'd built a fortress of potion books and reference texts on his table and was now trying to hide himself from the watchful eyes of Madame Pince.
Harry had decided that monitoring Malfoy was an even better way to spend ones time than the charms essay due in three days.
Malfoy sat in a secludes corner (right next to the Magical History Section) and was writing furiously on his parchment. Every once in a while he would gnaw on the end of his quill, his eyes focused on nothing. Afterward he would often gasp and write a few words just to stop abruptly again. Whenever he was writing his left hand was twitching and Harry awaited the moment he would topple over his ink well.
He found great pleasure in imagining the dark ink staining Malfoy's doubtlessly expensive robes, splashing on the white-blonde head and the pressed-together lips. In his anger he'd snap his quill and get adorable red cheeks.

100 word drabble using the prompt: books

I round the corner and my steps get faster with every meter I get closer to the enormous door. Finally I can open it - I have to use all my weight -
and as soon as I hear the silence and smell old parchment and ink, I know I'm right were I belong.
Rows upon rows of books tower in endless bookshelves. Golden dust particles are visible in the light.
I sigh and make my way over to my favourite desk and chair. Don't tell Madam Pince, but I like to stroke the spines of the books on my way.

RAVENCLAW THE ROUND ROBIN!

(Emerald, if you want the link pm me an email address and I'll add you to the gdoc :D)
(Well done guys, was an absolute pleasure creating this with you. I'll be in touch for any other group activities :D)
(No beta action was taken and I think we all wrote exactly 25 words each time :D Check the first reply for the second part.)
Word count: 921

Harry, like Hermione, loved the first day of school, but for a different reason. Books, the smell of parchment, and the sound of his schoolmates cheering for Gryffindor during quidditch games, made last spring seem like a distant memory. He still wasn’t sure about returning for 8th year, but there was a distinct feeling of 'not ready' wafting threateningly throughout his year. As if by not completing their previous school year, they were behind somehow. Everyone seemed determined to do their best and to make this year count, though Harry couldn't tell how much of that determination came from it being their last year. He knew he should by some miracle be ready to take on the life of an adult after this year.

Though his lack of anger when he saw Malfoy—or any of the Slytherins—showed him how much he had already matured, he still felt like child. Even worse was feeling that the professors expected him to have a complete mental breakdown. At least once a day, Harry was asked if everything was ‘okay,’ like he might shatter at any moment. Well, he was great, thanks – Quidditch season was just around the corner and no madman was out to kill him. He felt free for the first time in his life. He just wished that everyone would leave him alone, though. He remembered fondly how he had spent the last few weeks at the Burrow. Molly had invited him right after the war, but he had his family to take care of.

Harry was surprised to find Malfoy had returned as well. When Malfoy looked up and caught Harry watching him, he didn’t look away. Instead, he raised his glass of pumpkin juice in salute and drank, before turning to talk to Pansy.

“Did Malfoy just recognise your existence?” Hermione asked, eyes hawk-like above her hovering spoonful of stew. “And without being snide? We must be growing up if you two are able to actually be polite to each other. I'm glad, though. We've all been through too much to still keep fighting over silly things."

He thought Hermione might be onto something, but he wasn’t sure whether growing-up was such a good thing to do. It seemed awfully boring. He missed the adventure of their previous years over the summer, even though he was finally free. He felt goalless and lost without someone out to kill him.

Tired of feeling this way, he sought out the Mirror of Erised’s hiding place. Surely it wouldn’t hurt to take one last look, to see if he was still pining for the same, impossible future after all this time. Or maybe the war had brought closure, a new beginning, free of the turmoil of his past. He remembered Dumbledore's words as he walked up to stand in front of the mirror and he closed his eyes before even taking his first look. “I must not forget to live”, he thought with a smile. Slowly he raised his eyelids and his mouth dropped at what he saw. A family—his family—as to be expected, but one he’d never imagined. It was Malfoy holding their baby, long fingers stroking the curly white-blond hair as Malfoy’s lips moved. With no sound, it took Harry a moment to realize Malfoy was actually singing softly to the child.

He materialised in the mirror, his smile fond and his fingers brushing familiarly at Malfoy's nape, and he couldn't help thinking, wondering, in fact, at how happy he looked as he looked fondly at Malfoy and at their child. And then Malfoy turned and looked at him. He would have never imagined grey eyes could warm up that much. The smile that stole it’s way onto Malfoy’s face was a sight he’d never thought to imagine.

Shocked he ran from the room and into Malfoy on the stairs, knocking them both down in the process. Harry tried to untangle himself as quickly as possible, but strong arms held him down.

[identity profile] darkravenwrote.livejournal.com 2013-09-08 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Potter," Malfoy said as Harry continued to thrash, "what's wrong?"

Immediately, despite being flustered, the worried undertone of Malfoy's question triggered a warning for Harry. There was nothing down here but a dead end...

And he was not ready to look at or talk to Malfoy just then. He was still trying to wrap his head around what he'd seen back in the mirror.

“I, um..er..get out of my way, Malfoy!”, well, that was smooth Harry thought and only managed a deep blush.

Malfoy gave him an odd look, before turning up the staircase, “What’s up there?”

“Nothing!” Harry knew Malfoy wouldn’t see what he saw.

“Don’t lie. You look like death warmed over.”

“I’m not lying.” Harry stood up and looked for his wand. He needed talk to Hermione now, she was the only one that would be able to rationalise this whole débâcle. “There's nothing up there!”

Harry's fingers snagged on the sleeve of Draco's robes and tried to stop him. But Draco wouldn't listen. He was genuinely curious now. Harry seemed so flustered. He couldn't imagine what could get the hero to be so nervous. And there he saw...a mirror? He pushed Harry aside and blinked. Were that him, Harry and a baby?

Draco’s eye widened then a blush coloured his cheeks. “What’s this?”

“It shows your desires—it’s not real.”

“What do you see?”

"Something impossible," Harry said wistfully. So tempted was he to shatter the glass and forget this dream that he did not hear the whispered Legilimens.

Three drabbles for the prompts: first years, late for class, passing notes

"Stupid first years. What did they do in the dungeons anyway?
Don't they know that the flying lessons're outside every fucking time?
- Mister Potter! Mister Potter? We're lost. Can you show us the way, please?"
, imitated Ron the boldest girl of the bunch of first years they had encountered.
"It's the third time this year we're to late because of them. And it's only the second day of the new year. Can't they get on somebodyelses nerves?", said Harry.
Both were rushing through the dungeons hoping against all hope to get to their potions class right before Professor Snape.

Luck was not on Harry's or his best friend's side.
Snape was already waiting with some scathing remarks and - of course - their first detention of the year.
But worse than that was the whispering that started as soon as they entered the room together. Since Harry had had his rather awkward coming out
there had been the wildest rumours about his still hidden relationship. Ron passed for the most believable with him being around Harry all the time.
Harry didn't want to think about what coming to late for the first class of the day together would cause.

Harry took his usual seat in the second row, right behind Draco Malfoy and right next to Hermione. Harry and Ron, who sat on Hermione's other side,
had not been exactly extatic (at all!) about their almost front row seats. But Hermione had argued and of course she had won. Even if she had used the argument,
that Potions would be important for their Auror career later on which - for Harry at least was no Argument anymore - two years ago, he still was happy with the seating arrangement -
passing notes with his boyfriend of one year Draco was made way easier.
