Drabble Day Prompt 10

First, a quick announcement. Some people are finding themselves inspired to write longer pieces. To give people a chance to finish, or fill new prompts, the challenge will stay open through Sunday, although no new prompts will be posted after the original 24. After 48hours the challenge will close and I'll count up prompts filled and the like for prizes, but the prompts will remain forever for inspiration and love ♥

There have been some great pieces posted already, so if you find yourself waiting for inspiration or looking for a break from writing, check them out!

Now, on with the prompt (from pressing shuffle on my iPod):

If you can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you're with.

Lyrics from Love The One You're With by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (apologies, I don't know how good the recording I picked is)

Rules are here, though an additional one - you don't need to stick to the drabble of the hour. Remember, there are no rules! If you want to fill prompt one minutes after I post prompt 24, then that's great!

And Chatzy is here and here for srs!chatzy.

Why in the world did that make me weepy?! That is beautiful though! I love Harry in this! And Draco comforting him!

Absolutely gorgeous!

Stories always start with once upon a time and have a happy ending. This story is just about a boy who knows no fairy tales, no happy endings in his life; it’s about a boy who’s expected to either save Wizarding World or die. Now, do you see why this is not a typical story wizards and witches alike had told for centuries but it’s extraordinary; quite extraordinary.

He falls in love – this boy. And he falls hard and he doesn’t hold any illusion that this love of his will be ever returned, so he throws himself into adventure after adventure, going through danger over and over again, battling the death. He always wins – this boy. It’s a quite a mad luck he’s got. But he can’t be together with his beloved; the longing sometimes is close to tearing him to pieces. So he learns to make the best of his life, even with a threat of mad man hanging over his head.

This boy – eventually he learns to let go and move on and make the best of what he’s got. He learns to love the ones he’s with. (though he never forgets his beloved, even as the hope withers out and fades)

Title Heartache
Summary Harry is married to Ginny. But he's gay, and is in love with Draco.
Warning No happy-ending, angst...
Word count 180

Harry’s whole life was based on one motto. If you can’t be with the one you love, honey, love the one you’re with

He had heard it somewhere, in some song, and decided it described his life very well.

The fact was, he had realised he was gay in his sixth year. It hadn’t been very convenient, as he had realised after he fell in love with Draco Malfoy. He was positive he wasn’t bisexual, which was a problem, as every single person that knew him had already decided his bride to be after the war. Ginny Weasley.

Which brought him back to his motto. He lived with Ginny, had the occasional fuck with Ginny, which he got through by imagining she was Draco. Ginny was expecting, and Harry was excited about getting a kid, but still, he only held platonic love for his wife.

He loved her very much, cared about her, so he guessed he was better off than some men in his shoes. However, his heart still ached for the blond man from his past.
